  1. I would be interested, though I have stacks of books on my TBR pile that I still have to get through. Jane Austen has been on my TBR list forever; I've heard so much about Pride and Prejudice, that I just have to read it, and soon!
  2. Hi Jess, and to the forum! I'm a Stephen King fan too - my favourite is The Stand. Don't worry - I'm not very good at expressing my thoughts on a book either.
  3. I've been thinking about this one since the thread was posted, and I still can't decide. I would definitely go with a re-read though, to avoid disappointment.
  4. I normally just like "regular" tea like Typhoo, or Tetleys. Green tea is nice too, and lately I have been getting into Chai Tea. Yum!
  5. I couldn't finish this book. I'd been looking forward to it for so long, but I felt like it dragged on too long, and was just so off-the-wall odd. I enjoyed Kafka on the Shore, though, so I haven't given up on Murakami's books just yet.
  6. Used books don't bother me at all, as long as they are clean. Sometimes you can find different versions (covers) than those in shops that sell new books. There is something nice about buying a brand new book though, and opening it up and getting that "new book smell".
  7. No, I don't do this, but that's usually because I only tend to read somewhere where I'm comfortable (ie. at home or at work). I do prefer paperbacks though, as they are easier to read and hold, and take up less space (not to mention, cheaper). However, if it's a book I've been waiting for, for a long time (like World Without End), then I'll get the hardback as soon as it comes out.
  8. The only books on that list I've read are She's Come Undone, and The Pilot's Wife, both of which I really enjoyed. I don't really follow Oprah much, mainly because her show isn't on here in the UK (or is it?). A lot of those, I haven't even heard of.

    hello

Hi Phil, and to the forum.
  10. But it's a good one, so I don't mind the long read.
  11. ^ From memory, it's 6 weeks from when you receive the book. I haven't even read mine yet, and I'm sure my due date must be passed, or coming up very shortly.
  12. It would bother me, and it's something I do tend to think about. It seems my TBR list is growing daily; I do get quite concerned that I won't get to read all the "good" books out there before I cark it. No way around it though, but to keep plowing through them.
  13. Hello, Michael! to the forum.

    Hello

    Hello, Suzanne! to the forum.
  16. Hello, Haniirani! to the forum. Out is one of my favourite books!
  17. Hello, Candybar! to the forum.
  18. Awww, Happy Birthday, Pooh!
  19. I can easily read on a train. When I used to catch the train to work I'd get so much reading done - at least 3 hours worth per day. However, reading on a plane is a completely different story. I'm amazed I managed to read a few pages (and it was literally just a few pages!) on this flight I just did; usually I can't read at all on a plane or at an airport. I find it too distracting and noisy with all the people about.
  20. I've only read 30. Not many compared to some of you!
  21. I wasn't very impressed with The Chamber either. My two favourites are A Time To Kill and The Firm.
  22. The Princess Bride is such a great book. Very good movie adaptation, too.
  23. I have to add World Without End to my doorstep challenge. It clocks in at 1,111 pages, so it will keep me out of mischief for a bit.
