  1. Granted but baby polar bears have the unfortunate habit of growing into full-size polar bears, which causes certain problems when you live in Dublin, Ireland. Not only does it terrorise the neighbours, but requires mega amounts of fish to feed it and does giant size poops everywhere. It also smells something fierce and has very bad breath. I wish a certain friend of mine had internet contact
  2. I've just finished this Pontalba and enjoyed it very much. Took it away on holiday and read most of it in a week (and it is a big book) It's one of those books you just want to keep reading. Irving's characters are very interesting, flawed, vulnerable, human and multi-layered. I loved the end line ....that was an inspired touch. One thing that struck me as I read was that it felt like the author was a female ....did you feel like that Katherine? Thank you very much for the recommendation.
  3. The Spot books by Eric Hill are always loved by little children and the Hairy MacClarey Books by Linley Dodd have wonderful rhymes and delightful illustrations.

  9. In Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, her characters are always 'cutting their eyes to' someone else.
  10. yes Brida it is. Immortal Beloved and that's Gary Oldman Why Didn't You Call Me ~ Macy Gray
  11. I have several family members who feel this way about Harry Potter books and they are entitled to their beliefs. What I find hypocritical is that they are quite happy to let their children read The Lord of the Rings books and CS Lewis, which all contain wizards and witchcraft, just because they were written by Christian authors. I really enjoyed Harry Potter although the later ones become quite dark and I don't think they are appropriate for small children.
