Talking of the Bloomsbury Group, I've just finished a book called Mansfield by CK Stead, a novel about Katherine Mansfield, who I think was one of this group. She was certainly friends with DH Lawrence, Bertrand Russell, TS Eliot and Virginia Woolf. Virginia Woolf wrote, 'It was the only writing I was ever jealous of.' I just looked him up babygiraffe and discovered this one written by him which I thought very good. THE LIE I found the lie again this morning I shouldn't have looked but I'm sorry, I did went searching under beds and amongst names, it lay so still, I wasn't sure if it was still alive so I poked it, held it, almost cradled it took it outside into the bright sunlight gave it the kiss of life it grew and grew stood up once more stretched and looked at me then walked away, shouting names,dates,times,clues and crimes, I ran after it, clawing, stumbling through thicket, tried to stop it going knocked it to the floor kicked and punched it til it lay lifeless once more, I picked it up, carried it inside, as before, I hide it in a secret place closed the door swallowed the key and sat in the sun I know where the lie is now, but I can't tell anyone what I have done-

My favourite at the moment too. We get double episodes on Friday night and it's the highlight of my week

I first became interested in Vita because of her gardening, particularly the old roses she grew. Sissinghurst would be wonderful to see (lol it's even further for me ... the other side of the world) I love biographies too, other people's lives are so fascinating

I've got Violet to Vita. The Letters of Violet Trefusis to Vita Sackville-West on my TBR pile. Their relationship was quite fascinating too, I read a biography about Vita after watching Portrait of a Marriage on TV. Vita remained married to her husband Harold, they loved each other deeply, but both were involved in same sex relationships.
