  1. Of your list I've read Stardust and The Color Purple, both of which I thought were excellent. I'd love to read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. Ooh, and the Wally Lamb one too, his I Know This Much Is True is very good. Happy reading nursenblack
  2. I love the Serenity Prayer God, grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
  3. Ballad In Plain D ~ Bob Dylan

  6. O Brother Where Art Thou? Muggle recommended this one to me and it's the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. It has the most wonderful assortment of characters and I laughed nearly the whole way through. It's a Coen Brother production which is a recommendation in itself. It's got some great music in it too (see video )

  11. Burning Down the House ~ Talking Heads
  12. A Series of Unfortunate Events (The Bad Beginning) by Lemony Snickett This is definitely a children's book and one I'm sure they would enjoy. My niece read the whole series when she was younger and loved them. The book is funny, and the children very likable characters (I particularly liked Sunny, the baby, who bites everything and speaks in unintelligible single words). But I don't think I could take too much more of the continual unfortunate mishaps that plague the Beaudelaire children. Think I'll leave it at that **

  16. I have a Kindle Touch. I love it. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed with is the Experimental option which allows you to use the internet. It's very slow and it's virtually impossible to access The Book Forum on it because of the time it takes to respond.

  18. This is one of my all-time favourite books and I've recommended it to several of my friends. I first read it when I was about 20 and it was a book that actually changed the way I viewed the world. But one of my friends didn't like it either and didn't finish it. I loved Anna and Fynn and thought the relationship Anna had with 'Mr God' was wonderful, but this is maybe what puts other people off. A book I have abandoned is Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson I found it just a bit too weird. I was disappointed as I had really enjoyed Lighthousekeeping by the same author.
