  1. I hadn't read the book, so it was all a big surprise. Emily Blunt was excellent. Not a rom-com fan either, PoppyS, with a few exceptions (eg Love Actually and Bridget Jones)
  2. Julie and Julia: My Year Of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell
  3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo
  4. And the fires now! I do hope it cools down for you soon, Kylie and they get all the fires under control (although the last thing you probably want now is a hot sweaty hug!!) Parts of NZ have bad fires at the moment too, very scary stuff.
  5. All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
  6. I hope Kylie is alright. They are having a record breaking heatwave in Sydney, temperatures up to 44C today in some parts and even higher tomorrow. Even worse, they're having power outages due to the high electricity demand from air conditioning
  7. Sorry Ian, tearaways like you need to learn to sit quietly and not be over-stimulated by the likes of Stephen King novels! You will be prescribed, 'The Wonderful World of Concrete' and 'An In Depth Study of the Colour Beige, the Non-Illustrated Edition.'
  8. I've read this SO many times over the years ... and the sequels (Birds, Beasts and Relatives and The Garden of the Gods ) ... and every other book I can lay my hands on by him Probably my all time favourite books. He's a wonderful writer. I tried to read something by his brother, Lawrence, but couldn't get into it at all.
