I'd Do Anything (with a little Britain's Got Talent)
Mia replied to Mia's topic in Music / TV / Films
Good grief, tonight's show was dull (or Dull! Dull!!Dull!!! as John Barrowman would probably say). I'm not much bothered who wins anymore. The two best ones tonight were Jessie and Rachel, and I can't stand either of them! I just can't seem to get interested in this one, not like the Maria and Joseph ones where it mattered to me who won. This one, I don't really care. I think I'm still watching out of habit. -
Yes, it was the other girl Rebecca who won. I think she deserved it as she was the only one who seemed to do any proper cooking!
-
That was gross, when the first guy spilt the wine and said that if there hadn't been guests there, he and his flatmates would have been licking it up from the floor!! And I think he was serious. Ewww.

I totally agree, Nici. I watched it tonight and it wasn't as good as when it ran over five days, with each contestant given a whole show. You got to see all the shopping and preparation, and it was much more entertaining. It all seems very rushed now it's four people crammed into one hour (with advert breaks!). I do think they have spoilt it a bit with this format. Re tonight's show - I thought Rebecca deserved to win as she seemed to be the one who did the most actual cooking! That Brenda came across as a really nasty piece of work and I'm glad she didn't win.

This is an entertaining programme. A group of people take it in turns to host dinner parties, and then give each other a score out of 10 for the food. Whoever gets the highest mark wins a cash prize. The camera follows each person as they prepare their food and mostly muck things up. You get some really weird or horrible people on sometimes that you just love to hate! The thing that makes it is the brilliantly sarcastic commentary - I think the guy who does it is called Dave Lamb. He really is hilarious, especially about the stuck-up or nasty ones. This used to be on around 5pm, but it's been "promoted" to 8pm tonight on Channel 4. They had a celebrity special last week, but I think it's back to "normal" people tonight! I definitely recommend it.

I couldn't decide whether I wanted Simon, Claire or Lucinda to go - they were all dreadful. The way Sir Alan was ranting at Claire, I thought he would sack her, so I was surprised when he made her team leader for next week and told her to get out. I don't know what the point of Lucinda is, she seems to have been useless every week. I would like to see her as the other team leader next time, so she can show if she can actually do anything. Incidentally, I thought that the David Beckham lookalike was very good and rather nice looking!

Yes, I did read the story, but I don't believe their reasoning. I don't accept that you can miss out an entire episode without it affecting the storyline somehow. Otherwise, what was the point of making that episode? Exactly, Karen! Why couldn't they just do a double bill for one week? And why does everyone have to fit around sport? (It's going to be great this summer, with Euro 2008 and the Olympics. )

Oh for goodness sake, that's ****** ridiculous. Why bother buying a series and then decide not to show certain episodes? Absolute idiots. It brings to mind Channel 4's appalling treatment of Angel. That's it then, I won't be bothering with any more of this programme. What's the point when it's being mucked around like this? Life's too short to try and get into an incomplete series!

I got it right! I should have had some money on it. Tara was the worst one on Saturday, but in the sing off I actually thought she sang the song better than Keisha - it seemed to suit her voice more. Unless they actually give Keisha a decent song next week she will be in the sing off yet again. -
I might give episode two a go then. Thanks!

"Casanova" was when I first became aware of David Tennant and thought "actually, he's rather gorgeous!" It's certainly worth watching.

Anyone watching this? I was a bit unsure about the concept: Dexter is a serial killer who works for the police as a "blood splatter" expert in murder cases. He does not feel normal human emotions, but has a need to kill. His father found out about this when Dexter was young and, realising that his compulsion to murder could not be stopped, taught him to murder only those that deserved it (ie other murderers). Kind of a weird set up, and certainly of dubious morality, but Dexter is a surprisingly sympathetic character. He strives for a "normal" life with his girlfriend and keeps his murderous activities secret. Meanwhile, a serial killer dubbed The Ice Truck killer is murdering people and taunting Dexter (last week The Ice Truck Killer tried to frame Dexter and nearly succeeded). I didn't know if I'd find the violence too much, but the camera thankfully cuts away before we really see anything. There are also some good sub-plots involving Dexter's sister, girlfriend and her violent ex, and the various characters in the police dept. I'd definitely recommend this series.

I was looking forward to this, but I can't say I was that impressed. In fact, I found most of it very annoying, from the voiceover to the thing about words being repeated all the time (eg, Coeur de Coeurs, Boutique Travel Travel Boutique, the Darling Mermaid Darlings or whatever they were called ), to the way everyone who was introduced was given their age in years, months, days and hours. Gah. ****** annoying. None of the characters came across as that likeable either. The only bit I enjoyed was where The rest was just dull. At the moment, I doubt I'll be watching episode two. Does it get more interesting and less annoying?

He is rather attractive, even though for 95% of the time he is pulling stupid faces! Prospero, did you ever see him in Casanova? A great series (but sad at the end).

I find her voice a bit screechy. Plus she cannot yet do a Cockney accent. -
Well, that was a vast improvement on last week's opener! A much more multi-layered story, with serious moral issues to decide, ie I have to say that the "look" of the episode was amazing - either a lot of money was spent on it, or it just looked that way! I loved the way everything was in red tones and hot looking - you could feel the heat just watching it. Very good indeed. I liked: I didn't like: But all in all, a very good, enjoyable episode, even though it was rather sad.

Well, my favourites from tonight's show were Sarah, Ashley and Samantha. I really like their voices. I also think Keisha has a really good voice, but they seem to be intent on sabotaging her by giving her rubbish songs. My least favourite was Tara, but I also don't like Jodie, Rachel or Jessie (who the panel seem to love). I predict it will be Tara and Keisha in the sing-off! -
What do you stubbornly refuse to read, and why?

I appreciate the apology too Kirstykat. -
I'm also waiting to see what Pushing Daisies is like. I don't know much about it except what I've seen on the ITV trailers. Still waiting for the new series of Heroes, too. (I understand it's been held up by the US writers' strike.)
-
Oh yeah, Big Cindy, that's right!
-
Yep, he does an excellent English accent. I used to love hearing him on Buffy and Angel using English swear words that the Americans probably didn't have a clue about. Great stuff.
-
It was okay, I suppose, but I wasn't too impressed. I agree with Michelle that it was too childish, like a Sarah Jane adventure. Things I liked: Things I didn't like: So, it was nice that Dr Who is back, but I hope next week's ep is better than this one.
-
Well exactly, another good reason to get rid of him! But does that mean Spike is on your list of enemies too?

Or the Bueno hunks! I'd never tried a Bueno, until one day at work we were told that someone was handing out free Bueno bars at work by the staff doors. One office stampede later, we found a gorgeous guy handing out two free bars to everyone! (If I say that that was one of the best things that's ever happened at work, it'll give you a clue as to how dull my job is!)
