  1. Kell, do you mean instead of starting a birthday thread in general chat? Aw, I feel a bit sad about that, as I think it's nice for people to get a whole thread devoted to them with people wishing them a happy birthday!

    Welcome to the forum, Nearco!
  3. I'll have a go at customising when I get some spare time, but there definitely won't be any piccies!

  4. Welcome to the forum, Jaya! I love Freecell! I decided to work my way through the games in order from beginning to end, but I got bored by the time I reached the 13,000s! I just play random games now. (I like Hearts too!) I'm also a fan of His Dark Materials, Harry Potter and Terry Pratchett (as can be seen from my signature). I just have the final book left to read of the Jonathan Stroud trilogy. Your bookcase is excellent, and I love your avatar! It made me laugh because it reminds me of me out shopping and I suddenly see a bookshop and veer off!
  5. Internet rumour re Jenny (I'll put in spoilers in case you don't want to look!): Don't know how true it is! Also: a blooper according to my paper: when Jenny says she smells flowers and the Doctor sniffs and says "Yes, bougainvillea" - apparently bougainvillea doesn't have a scent! I can't verify this though, as I'm no expert on plants!
  6. Wow, that news surprised me, because he seemed to really dislike her and said flat out that he didn't rate her voice. Well, so he should be lining something up for her - she's a really good singer IMO.
  7. I've just signed and it's up to 25 now.
  8. Welcome to the forum, Tinymoz! (How did you get your username?) You've come to the right place for inspiration - I'm sure we can help you. I'm a Trudi Canavan fan too. Have you read the Age of the Five trilogy? They weren't as good as the Black Magician trilogy, but were okay. Do you mostly read fantasy? If so, I recommend a trilogy (why are they always trilogies?) by Carol Berg called Transformation, Revelation and Restoration.
  9. Yes, perfectly thank you!!
  10. I wanted to mention Cold Comfort Farm last night, but I couldn't express what I wanted to say properly. I knew Purple Poppy would be mentioning it, so I thought I'd wait for her to post and then second it! (Apologies for my laziness, PP.)
  11. I've never fallen asleep whilst reading a book, but that's probably because I have to be lying in bed in a dark room before I can sleep anyway!
  12. Well, you'll all be pleased then. *sulks* I must be the only person on here who likes Ashley! I think she has a really good voice. When she was in the sing-off, I knew she'd be out, as Lloyd Webber was never going to save her. She sang the song far better than Niamh, but of course Lloyd Webber saved Niamh, saying that Ashley was "slightly out of tune". What?! I don't think she was out of tune at all. The only slightly bad thing about Ashley was that she did have a bit of a psychotic death stare thing going on sometimes! That's all my favourites gone now. The panel seem to say the complete opposite of what I think, yet I chose Lee Mead and Connie Fisher from the first programmes, so feel I can spot talent a bit! None of those left for Nancy really stand out. Rachel has grown on me, and Samantha is OK, but that's it. No doubt one of those will be going next week!
  13. I've noticed that! Yes, I think that was what disappointed me. It was like "stick your hand in here - oh look, you've got a daughter"! And... didn't the soldiers say everyone had to be processed, but then only process the Doctor? I didn't notice Martha or Donna sticking their hands in the machine. Oops, I completely forgot about even hearing that! Old age must be creeping up on me. That does sound interesting. Excellent!
  14. You could use spoiler tags!
  15. I think my tally is well down on normal. I just haven't had the time with sorting out the house buying etc. Also to blame are the TV programmes I like that are currently on in an evening! The only reading time I get is on the train on my commute to work, and the books I read tend to be James Patterson or Tami Hoag novels - easy reads and not too heavy to carry! Jonathan Strange... has been on my TBR pile for a good few years now, but there's no way I'm lugging that on the train (big hardback that weighs a ton!) Hopefully when I'm settled into my new home I'll have time to read on an evening (providing the TV programmes aren't that good!).
  16. Well, I don't really know what to say about this one. I think I was expecting slightly more from it, so was a bit disappointed. I thought that All in all, I thought it was a strange episode.
  17. Thoughts on tonight... I liked Ashley, Samantha and Rachel the best. Jessie was completely unintelligible - I couldn't make out most of what she was singing. There was another one who was exactly the same (can't remember who now), but John Barrowman said he could hear every word! In general, the panel seem to think the exact opposite to me! And they really hate Ashley, who I quite like. And what's going on with John Barrowman's looks? What's he done to his hair? It looked awful. What with the hair, the fake tan and the Botox, he's looking less and less attractive and more like a plastic Action Man.
  18. Hi PP, that's fine. I've added you to mine!

  19. I actually agreed with Sralan's decision this week and think he fired the right people. They were both evil, bullying bitches, and deserved to be fired anyway for trying to bribe the shop assistants to sabotage the other team. I do want Lee to go soon though, as he is also an evil bully and completely over the top with his swearing, whooping and stupid noises. He should get back to Year 3 where he belongs. <end of rant> Last night's task was really funny. They paid no attention to detail whatsoever and the "kosher" thing was hilarious. Sralan taking Michael to task over being "a good Jewish boy" was hilarious!
  20. Slightly off topic (sorry) but with ~V~ mentioning JB's Botox, I have to say that he's ruining his looks. His face looks plastic and shiny now. What an idiot. And for an actor, who needs to express emotion through facial expressions, to paralyse his facial muscles voluntarily? I just don't get it.
  21. Supergran, that was my reasoning. I'm confused... I used to think I was good with apostrophes. How will I cope now? Will I start using greengrocers' apostrophe's every time a word end's in 's? Two people going tonight? Ooh! But on past showings it'll be the ones who don't deserve to go that Sralan fires.
  22. Michelle, I'd say it's definitely worth continuing to the end. It's good, it's just not as good as Life on Mars. But stick with it.
  23. I agree, H and D! Barry Humphries is just a letch - when Sam's on he's positively drooling, Homer Simpson style! *shudder* I've always liked Ashley, though she isn't popular. I think she's a really good singer, with a good range (most of them can belt out the high notes, but cannot sing low notes very well). She's my only favourite left now, so I fully expect her to go next week! And I forgot to say that Jodie is another one that I really can't understand her popularity. She's over the top with her singing and looks about 45 years old.
  24. I don't know why, but I've never read any TV programme tie-in novels, or even considered them. Maybe I think they won't match up to the series? Or that they're somehow "cashing in"? I know there are plenty of Buffy and Angel books out there too, so maybe I should give them a chance. On the other hand, if I like them, it could prove expensive!
  25. I've just re-read this thread and seen that I didn't really add anything after the first few episodes! So I'll add now that Keeley Hawes became less annoying - maybe I just got used to her. I ended up enjoying the series, but it's still not a patch on Life on Mars. The last episode was rather good though, especially a revelation that I didn't see coming.
