So, to ask the obvious question, why are you still watching?
I was wondering when you'd ask that.
Because I've always loved Doctor Who, so I don't want to give up on it. And because I've been giving Matt Smith time to grow on me. He hasn't.
I'll probably still keep watching, as I can't bring myself to stop watching a programme I've always liked just like that. But I think they've made a huge mistake casting Smith. I just don't think he's right for the part. Obviously many people disagree with me - fair enough. Personally, I dislike him.

I was quite bored for most of the episode and kept looking at my watch hoping it was near the end.
On the plus side, the guy playing Van Gogh very much looked the part.
On the down side, Matt Smith.
I have to admit though that when they took Vincent to 2010 to see all his paintings I had tears in my eyes.

Yes, Jackson must perhaps be going to have a relationship with Aaron after all, if Pauline Quirke's been cast as his mum he must be staying a while.
-
My theory appears to be working - a good episode followed by a bad one! I hated last night's, but then again I can't stand Lady Gaga.
The only good bit, which was brilliant, was the bit where Tina stood up to the Principal at the end! Hilarious!
-
Nah. Just so long as they stay upwind of you.
Still, it's good to see you are getting your priorities right!
-
Hmm, well it's possible, in fact probable I guess. But I'll ignore that for now, as poor old Rory has given me another jolly good reason to hate Matt Smith's Doctor even more than I already did.

A friend of mine is a children's book buyer. She's read the third book and said it's superb. Where will I find the time!?
That sounds like a dream job!
I don't know how you can find the time - perhaps you can try and give up unnecessary drains on your time such as working, cooking, sleeping...

Glee episodes seem to be going in an alternate fashion at the moment - a boring episode, then a good one. I hated last week's, but the last episode was very good. There were some very touching moments and some great humour too.
I'm standing by for tomorrow's to be rubbish now!

I don't really like either of them, but Charity really irritates me. All she does is roll her eyes and think that is acting. I wasn't best pleased when they brought her back. And where's her kid suddenly disappeared to?
Emmerdale's been pretty good lately. I've been particularly impressed with the acting of the guy who plays Aaron. He's managed to make a one-dimensional thug into a multi-layered character, and I think he's a brilliant actor.
I don't like Charlie, because I can't stand the actor who plays him (George Costigan?). After all, he tried to kill Inspector Frost, the
!
Declan is quite interesting, he and Natasha should make for some good plots. Nikhil was sweet, plucking up the courage to ask Maisie out and being really shy. Bless.
Speaking of disappearing kids, where are Belle and Will? Belle's a really good little actor, they should give her more to do.

I'm so sad now it's finished! I wanted the show to go on forever (or at least for a few more series) with Gene Hunt helping different new people. I miss the character already.
I taped the last episode so I can watch it for a second time and see if I missed anything.
I did find it a bit depressing, not just because I knew it was the end, but for
having to watch the deaths of Ray, Shaz and Chris. And for finding out that Gene was the young copper.
I might have to buy the Life on Mars DVDs.
One of my favourite lines from the last episode is now my signature! It just made me laugh so much.
I know everything was definitely coming to an end when the Quattro got totalled - the show couldn't carry on without that car!
-
It's at times like this I really wish I had Sky...
I'll just have to buy the DVD.
Going Postal is one of my all-time favourite Pratchetts. I bought Hogfather and quite liked it (though it's not one of my favourite books), but I haven't bought The Colour of Magic. I don't know why, I must have forgotten about it!

I now completely cannot stand Matt Smith or that plank of wood that plays Amy Pond. They've ruined one of my favourite shows.
I almost completely agree (I can still tolerate Amy). And now that useless lump of
masquerading as The Doctor has now managed to get nice old Rory killed by faffing about instead of just getting into the Tardis. Nice one.
God, I really, really hate Matt Smith's portrayal of The Doctor.
I truly can't think of one redeeming feature of his performance. On the odd occasion he gets it right, he seems to be merely copying Tennant's portrayal. The rest of the time, when he plays it his way, he gets it so, so wrong.
I still kind of like Amy, but at times she is very irritating. I hate it when they have her mouthing off in a glib "humorous" way when she's in mortal danger. I find it quite unrealistic.

I loved this book! One of the best opening lines ever, and the character of Todd's dog Manchee has really stayed with me. I still imagine my dog looking at me, saying 'Good poo, Nona'.I have The Ask and the Answer in hardback, but just can't find time to read it.
It's very good.
And the third book is out at the beginning of October, so you'll have to have read it by then!

I am reading Insomnia and although I am well into the book page wise it is a hard book and really very boring. I do hope it improves. I never start a SK and not keep reading so I will let you know how I get along at the end
Beccles, the first time I read Insomnia I thought it was quite boring too. Then, a few years later, I decided to re-read it for some reason (perhaps to see if it was really as boring as I remembered it) and I thought it was excellent and I really liked it! Strange...

I quite enjoyed tonight's episode. Even you-know-who seemed slightly less annoying than usual. But that doesn't mean I'm warming to him. No way.
I like Amy (but please put some jeans on at some point in the series) and I like Rory - I don't find them irritating as some do.
-
I may have fallen a little in love with Gene Hunt.
That's a big club you're joining, Kell!

Matt Smith just isn't working for me at all.
Me neither. He has managed to turn Doctor Who from something I wouldn't risk recording in case something went wrong and I missed it, to something I wouldn't be at all bothered if I missed. I've given him a chance to grow on me and he hasn't. He's completely wrong for the role IMO.
-
Tonight's episode was rather so-so. I did think the guy who played the Dream Lord was excellent. Matt Smith is a poor actor - this guy acted him off the screen with a spooky yet understated performance.
-
Wow Ruth, I'm really impressed by your theory. I think it's very clever, and it does seem to fit.
I haven't been able to formulate much in the way of a theory at all, I just can't seem to get my head around it!
Nicx27, my mum said much the same thing about there being a place on the neck that can be pressed.

I loathed The Tommyknockers and have never considered re-reading it. I did enjoy Christine and Gerald's Game though. I'm waiting for Dome to come out in paperback.

Oh my, this is now going from bad to worse. It took me all my time to keep watching it last night, I was so bored. Poor old Patrick McGoohan will be turning in his grave over this drivel having the temerity to call itself The Prisoner.
-
Siouxsie and the Banshees cover of The Passenger is good as well. Also prefer Echo and the Bunnymen's version of 'People are strange' over The Doors version.
Agree on both, though I like Iggy's Passenger just as much.
Though generally I'm not a great fan of cover versions - I tend to think they should stop being so
lazy and write their own song.

I think this series has been rather patchy, but last night's episode was very good indeed. It was edge-of-the-seat stuff, and the tension really kept my attention.
So what do people think of Jim Keats? At first, I thought he was helping Alex, but now I think he's a right evil
who is just out to destroy Gene, and is trying to use Alex to do it.
In last night's episode, when
Viv had been shot and Keats went up to him, I wasn't quite sure what happened. Did Keats realise Viv was dying, and hold his head to comfort him as he died? Or did he actually kill Viv in some way? I couldn't quite make it out.
Also, I would love to know what Gene said to that criminal in last week's episode that left the guy absolutely terrified.
I think there's only a couple more eps left, so I hope they do a good ending!
-
I rather enjoyed this episode, in fact it was my favourite so far. Perhaps Matt Smith had less screen time or something?
There were a few laugh out loud moments, particularly Amy saying scathingly to The Doctor: "You look about nine!"
However, Matt Smith preening in the mirror and calling himself a handsome devil made me want to throw up.
Still, it was pretty good.

Good episode again!
I felt sorry for poor Rachel when they all threw eggs on her.
I don't know why, but I managed to feel sorry for Sue when she was stood up on her date, even though she's been really evil to Will!
What made me laugh was her "hot date" outfit - her usual tracksuit, but with the addition of a necklace!
