  1. Lords and Ladies is one of my favourites too, Kate!
  2. Tonight's episode was quite enjoyable. Guy and Robin working together! Very interesting. And there was the woman from Torchwood apparently married to Antony Worrall Thompson! The best bit though was nicked straight from Monty Python's Life of Brian, when they were in the dungeon and asked who was Archer. Cue everyone shouting "I'm Archer!"
  3. Happy Birthday Icecream! :balloons:

  4. Thanks for that! I agree, Gene in the present day would be brilliant. And that's interesting, from Michelle, that the final series will reveal who the character Gene Hunt really is. Sounds intriguing.
  5. I really enjoyed the finale! But whether I was being a bit dim, or not paying enough attention (possibly both), but I did end up a bit confused about what actually happened. At the end, where Alex was being held at gunpoint by Summers, I thought Gene shot him and Summers' gun went off and hit Alex (at which point she passed out in the 80s world and woke up in her own). But at the end, where Gene is on the hospital monitors imploring Alex to wake up, I thought he said something like "I need you to wake up - they think I shot you... well, I did [but not intentionally]" or words to that effect. So: was Alex shot? Who shot her? There were some hilarious moments too. The bit in the chippy made me feel sick but it was funny too. I also liked the bit where the curly-haired guy (forgotten his name!) was trying to explain the King Dong film and he kept glancing at Alex and trying to do it in the correct way but he eventually gave up and just blurted out his usual stuff! I thought it was quite sweet that he had obviously warmed to Alex a bit and was trying to say the right thing. I thought it was sad when Alex finally told Gene the truth and he didn't believe her. This isn't fact, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that there would be another series, but without Alex. Maybe it will involve Gene on the run.
  6. Yes, I will miss Margaret and her eyebrows! I didn't really mind who won, I thought they were both good. I did prefer Kate's presentation - Yasmina's was cringe-making and I watched it through my fingers because I found it so embarrassing. But Kate fouled up on the pricing. I thought Sralan wasn't going to hire Yasmina because she already had a business, then suddenly he chose her! The after-show programme was funny - Philip was really getting a lot of (well-deserved) stick!
  7. Er, I'll try, but even though I watch it every day it doesn't really stick in my mind! Here's what I can remember... Zeke had been acting strangely (so what's new) and disappearing off somewhere, so Dan and Libby followed him. It turned out he is going to a "cool" pirate radio station and doing a popular show there, under the alias "Lost Boy". How he is so popular, when he has no personality, I'm not really sure. It's been April Fool's day, so Toadie played a trick on the street and Rebecca wanted to get him back. So she got some trick scratchcards, hoping to convince him he'd won a lot of money. It went wrong somehow, and Cass ended up with the "winning" card and promptly went out and spent the money she didn't yet have on a big plasma TV, etc etc. Rebecca saw her unloading the TV, felt bad, apologised and explained the card had been meant for Toadie, but Cass refused to listen and said she would pay. She got revenge by sending her daughter Tegan to Rebecca's bar for alcohol. Rebecca refused to serve her and put the drink on the bar, saying Cass could collect it. Tegan took the drink and Cass made a big public fuss, saying Rebecca had sold alcohol to a minor. She then wanted Paul to publish a story on this - Paul refused. Cass has now gone to the police about Rebecca. Paul is now on Cass's revenge hitlist. She has accused him of harrassing and stalking her. She hid her possessions in Paul's house and told the neighbours he'd been taking her stuff. Paul told everyone to come and search his house to prove his innocence - they did, and found a negligee that Cass planted there! So everyone thinks Paul is a creepy stalker and Cass is the victim. Cass was going to force her kids to go to the police over the Rebecca thing, but they'd had enough and decided to leave and go and live with their Grandma. Elle gave them a lift there on Friday. Ringo is being a complete pain in the butt to fit in with his new trendy football mates, and forgetting his old mates. He went off with Ashley the football groupie to her house, but her dad came out and hit the roof as they were kissing - her dad turned out to be the team coach! Ringo wanted to end things, but Ashley blackmailed him and said he had forced his attentions on her. She and her dad confronted Ringo in the pub, but his mates stuck up for him and Ashley was forced to confess she'd made things up. That's about all I can remember!
  8. If only, Inver... But they'd probably lose half the cast!! Cass really is a nasty piece of work. I'm glad her kids saw the light and left her today. (And I never thought I'd see the day when I felt sorry for Paul Robinson!)
  9. Re the last episode, I think it was right that Lorraine and James went at that point, even though I like Lorraine and have always been on her side. I was surprised that Debra went, but I don't think Sralan liked her or could have faced working with her! At one point I thought Kate was going to be fired for doing too perfect an interview! So I was surprised when Debra went instead. But Sralan said "keep in touch" to her, so I wouldn't be surprised if he offered her a job sometime in the future. Yes, Yasmina was hilarious with her lies and ignorance! She'd obviously made out that her restaurant was much more successful than it actually is. I especially loved the bit where the interviewer had her accounts and she snarled at him "Where did you got those?". He replied "they're public documents" and she just said "oh" and looked all deflated. Hilarious!
  10. Definitely Labyrinth! A true feel-good film. (Not to be confused with Pan's Labyrinth, which was good but depressing.)
  11. Blinking flip! *QUIZ SPOILER ALERT!* If you haven't yet finished the Dark Tower books, and intend to read them, DON'T do the quiz today as there is rather a large spoiler for one of the questions. Not that I think the DT books have many fans amongst us quizzers!
  12. Happy Birthday H&D! :balloons:

  13. Mia

Happy Birthday Janet! :balloons: I hope you are having a lovely day.

  14. Looks like they finally have, Inver (sort of)! About time. That Cassandra woman is really getting on my nerves. I feel so sorry for her kids...
  15. Nicola, good call! You should have put a bet on! I'm pleased Lorraine didn't go, but really I wanted the other team to lose so one of them would go. I really thought Sralan was going to fire Lorraine, until Nick (of all people) stood up for her. I think that was what changed his mind. Margaret seems to have gone off her! I just have a soft spot for Lorraine after Philip was so nasty to her. Lorraine wasn't very good at selling the deep fat fryer though. They started selling chips instead! "Chips are so versatile, you can have them with this, with that..." We already know how you can eat chips! Just tell us the unique selling point of the fryer for god's sake!!! I think it could be Debra, Yasmina or Lorraine to win, but Sralan doesn't like Debra or Lorraine. Hmm... I'm also a bit annoyed to find out that the final programme is going to be moved to the Sunday because there is a football match on. football! Still, I'm looking forward to the next programme with the grillings from hell. Bet Debra won't be able to keep a civil tongue in her head!
  16. I've cried with laughter at Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole books, and various Terry Pratchett books.
  17. I never seem to agree with Sralan's choice! I'm with Laura, I think Debra should have gone and I don't know why she didn't. It was her who really, really wanted the rocking horses. Sralan blamed Ben for not negotiating a discount, but Debra was there too! I was so hoping Lorraine's team would win, so I was pleased when no-one bought a rocking horse!
  18. Seconded!
  19. Happy Birthday! :balloons:

    Happy Birthday! :balloons:

  21. I've read Endymion Spring and enjoyed it, but can't remember anything much about it. But that probably says more about my memory than the book itself.
  22. Happy Birthday! :balloons:

  23. Oh, he really, really has! I think I can feel a new obsession coming on. I saw in the TV mag that The Guardian was being repeated today from 5.10 - 7.10pm, so I managed to watch that. I don't quite know how it's being worked out though - there have been five episodes so far and they showed the pilot and one that was shown on Friday! There is also a one-hour repeat tomorrow at 7pm, but god knows which episode they will show. I think I might look into whether the DVDs are available. Simon plays a very different character in this. At first he's pretty unlikeable, but he's already starting to mellow. At the moment I prefer The Mentalist though!
  24. Just wanted to say that I am really, really liking this programme! I have got used to the main character's personality and now I love him. It was nice to see his vulnerable side in last night's episode. I have also developed a huge crush on Simon Baker. Oh dear. I would have loved to have watched The Guardian too, but Five, in their wisdom, have put it on at exactly the same time as Home and Away and Neighbours, which I have to watch (for tedious reasons I won't go into). And I can't tape digital channels! Aarrggghh!!!! I just hope they repeat it at a time it doesn't clash with anything.

Sorry to hear about your sad news, Kylie. :( Here's a hug for you. :friends0:
