  1. What a lovely wee story. Jessica's Granpa is dying but has one wish he wants to be carried out before he goes. His grandaughter Jess, who loves swimming, helps him do this. He wants to finish a painting. They go back to where he grew up and the call of the water is there for them both, what is Granpa's secret connection with the 'river boy' painting he wants to finish and her draw to the secrets of the river? Lovely gentle read and a touching relationship between young and old.

Andy is at a fundraising Sportsman Dinner tonight for Culter. They have some great silent auction bids going. I have just told him to put me down for the framed signed Denis Law Scotland top! Watch this space! Fantastic total of £20,000 raised tonight. The strip went for £370....needless to say I didn't get it..lol. They had a signed Giggs shirt too....£1300! They were fundraising for the new club pitch/facilities that have been slow in getting built due to continuous fundraising etc.

Aw...thanks Sedge. One bit of good news though. Andy had to attend a hearing about the appeal he put forward and they won it and will be awarded the game after Kintore United fielded that inelligible player. So now be finishing on 22 instead of 19 and 4th. Was chuffed when he got the letter through.
  4. Books bought from the book sale. I could probably have bought more, but I think I may be back tomorrow night with the boys so they can have a rummage. 'When will there be good news' by Kate Atkinson (thought I had it on shelf but phew Idon't) 'The Return' by Victoria Hislop (was on my list) Two thinish reads that took my fancy, never heard of them before though. 'Daughters of the House' by Michele Roberts 'The Spare Room' by Helen Garner
  5. Off to a mega huge book sale at local church....run for Christian Aid.....have my wishlist with me, you never know what you might pick up. It is on all week, friend should be here soon to pick me up.

Great season for your boys Sedge. Unfortunately it was not to be for Andy and Glendale, they went out 3-2, with no thanks to the stupid numptie of a ref that denied them a penalty that would probably have given them a 3-2 advantage before the whistle, but it went the other way in the end. Disappointing for them. One game left of Saturday, must scrape the 3pts to avoid the bottom 3, 5th bottom at the moment but those below have games in hand, with close points and goal differences possible deciders if it gets down to the nitty gritty!

Great stuff Sedge. Well done on your top10 finish. Andy and Glendale had a 3-3 draw on Wednesday, taking a point of a team who have been unbeaten at home. They came back from 3-0 down at HT. They are hoping that this may secure them being dropped back down from the league if they secure a win in their final game to come. Off to watch them in their semi-final clash today against Stoneywood...fingers crossed.

  10. Jenny I have only read 8 books this year so no worries about how many...enjoy what you read is more satisfying than trying to beat someone else total....

  12. Saturday night and have a wee medium sherry in my hand thank you. Hubby is cooking tea and then I may be persuaded to have a G & T later, or maybe a V & T ice and a slice. Cheers

Thanks Sedge. Yes it seems a bit like survival of the fittest at the moment. Andy and the boys drew 1-1 this afternoon. Beautiful day but again a very dry pitch. Bit of a rough game, they had a player sent of apparently before we got there. The ref said he took someone down in the box, our goalie was trying to defend him by mouthing of but he himself got a yellow. However they got one back. The had two players injured and taken off and Andy was feeling his hamstring again, so all 3 subs used. The joys. However they only lost 2pts and not 3. Doesn't make much difference to the league positioin though.
  15. Finished this moring while having a coffee in the sunshine.......'Tropical Connections' by Susie Vereker
  16. 'Tropical Connections' by Susie Vereker Art historian Claire leaves England and moves to a tropical island in the South China seas. Makes friends with some ex-pats, gets involved with dodgey dealings in the art world, relationships entangled etc etc. You get the idea. I'm sorry to say I found this read a bit tedious and didn't find it a page turner, although I did finish it, but not in any great hurry. I wasn't really enjoying the characters very much and found some of them annoying. It was far fetched in places especially the 'rescue'. 2/5

Great stuff again for St A Sedge...you are doing well just now. Andy and Glendale had a huge win on Wednesday 8-1 , although the other team were short of a few of their top players, it being a mid week game, but hey a win is a win. My boy took a great pen and is still top scorer at the moment by 2 goals. U13's had their last game of season last night, but unfortunately lost it 2-0, but played great. Same team as last Sunday. No disgrace though and coaches were well pleased. Pitch was awful though, so dry ball bouncing everywhere.
  18. I have just ordered tickets x2 for myself and a friend to go see him in June here in Aberdeen. I'm guessing we won't be the youngest at this concert....lol...or the oldest. We have tickets to go see Dylan Moran (Black Books etc) June and Bill Bailey in Nov. Those ones are x4 hubby, me and our boys. Anybody else going to see any concerts this year. Music or otherwise?

Shame Sedge you just didn't quite get there. Must have been a great day though. Offside.....how many times do we hear that...seems ref's have their own rules about that these days.... Ah well at least you made a cup final. Andy playing tonight against the 3rd place team at the moment. Hilton beat them 4-2 last time, so could go either way I guess. Nice night for it though, sunny and quite warm, could change by 6.45 though U13's have their last game tomorrow, same team they played on Sunday, so will see if they can finish on a win. Kintore are sitting 3rd on 24pts and Culter Colts are 4th on 19, be good to get those 3 and finish on 22pt. They can't finish any higher than 4th but great stuff to pull themselves up from the bottom 3. Still haven't any more about the appeal yet, so potentially they could get another 3 pts and maybe finish 3rd. Leaving it a bit late now though to sort it out.

Another good day for Andy and the U13's Sedge. Playing a team just above them, hadn't played them before and they will be playing them again on Thursday. They had a fantastic game today, all played as a team and won 4-2 and will probably finish 4th. One game to go on Thursday, but unfortunately their goalie took an knock and has a fracture to his wrist, he had to come off poor wee sole, was a bit shaken and white. His dad took him for an x-ray and sure enough was fractured, so in plaster and will miss the last game of the season. The wee guy hasn't missed a training session or a game all season. Think Andy has him in mind for player of the year or most improved. One of the team stepped in and did goalie though, as he actually was picked for Aberdeen school select of his year, so he managed OK and has said he will fill in on Thursday....phew. Good luck for tomorrow Sedge.
