Fantastic turn around v Hasse from Andy Murray.....hope he finished him off. Phew....that wasn't as easy as thought it was gonna be!
  2. Just finished 'Blackbird House' by Alice Hoffman
  3. 'Blackbird House' by Alice Hoffman I have read other Alice Hoffman, but this was a bit different it being a series of short stories interlinked with the 'Blackbird House', spanning 100yrs and those who lived in it. Some of the early chapters I found a struggle to understand their point at times, then on to another chapter in the history of those who lived in the house. I found the latter chapters more enjoyable, but did find the ends of each chapter a bit 'unfinished' and...what was the point of the story! It did have the feel of a 'fairytale' about it. I didn't entirely dislike it, but not one I would go back to. 3/5
  4. Thanks for stopping by. I'm over my tooth episode thanks. Hope you are feeling not too bad (hugs)

No midweek games this week for Andy & Co. and none on Saturday. Think half the team are away to Hampden to watch Sco v Czech so called a free weekend I think. Just his U'14's on Sunday and will be looking for a win hopefully.
  6. I always used to browse the 3 for 2 offers, but didn't always buy, only something I really wanted. Think what they are proposing is maybe a better way.
  7. Thanks Paula. I had a lovely day with my sis. Eating scones etc...lol

  8. Thanks I had a lovely day with my sis

  9. 'The Sound of Waves' by Yukio Mishima This lovely wee book was sent to me by the lovely Paula (Weave) as a wee cheer me up. Thank you for allowing me to read this gentle story of first love between Shinji and Hatsue. Love is never straightforward, especially when you are very young. The pair are smitten, but it takes time for them to be allowed to speak to each other, villagers gossip about them and they seek to find a way to be together. It all comes together in the end. 4/5
  10. Received in the post today via a swap on Read It Swap It..... ' A Cry in the Dark' ~ Mary Higgins Clark. New author for me, but willing to give it a go.

I'm workin on the theory win 2, lose 2, win 2.....so they should be up for a win today... It is sad if a team goes under, hope it doesn't come to that. Pathetic week for Scottish SPL teams in Europe ...we are poop. Update.....boys just back from footie...we didn't go to watch today. Beat 2-0 away....ah well my theory didn't work then...lol. All the usual excuses, should have done this etc. open goals missed, trying to chip the keeper....blah blah blah...!

Great result for your boys Sedge, may there be many more! Andy's Culter Colts U'14's got of too a storming start of the season, first league game today, winning 9-0 at home! Hoping for an away win next week too. Sitting at the top of the table. His aims/dreams for this season is that they win their league and move up! If they play as well as they did today it could be on the cards. Andy double happy today, St Johnstone took 3 pts of Celtic today away from home...
  17. Great read, just finished 'Perfect Match' ~ Jodi Picoult. Next read is going to be 'Blackbird House' ~ Alice Hoffman (at least I don't think I have read it, although does sound familiar)
  18. 'Perfect Match' ~ Jodi Picoult Blurb As an assistant district attorney, Nina Frost prosecutes the sort of crimes that tear families apart. But when Nina and her husband discover that their five-year-old son Nathaniel has been sexually abused, it is her own family that is devastated. The world Nina inhabits now seems different from the one she lived in yesterday; the lines between family and professional life are erased; and answers to questions she thought she knew are no longer easy to find. Overcome by anger and desperate for vengeance, Nina ignites a battle that may cause her to lose the very thing she's fighting for. **************** Picoult very rarely disappoints with her story telling. I was gripped from the start. A great read despite the delicate subject matter of child abuse, very sensitively written. She carries you along at page turning speed and just as you think you have it sorted out in your mind...whoosh another twist and turn, and it carries on right to the very last page. The narration jumped about a bit, and at times I had maybe to read paragraphs twice to make sure I knew who was speaking, but once I got into the way of it was fine. Well researched as always with the court case routine and also the medical/forensic issues, DNA explanation etc. 4/5 (recommend)
  19. What a great read. I love Jodi Picoult's writing, she always keeps you guessing to the end, just when you think you have it sussed, whoosh she puts in another twist. Great...another Picoult, ticked off my list.
  20. I like Weave's wee girl on the books just now.

Wish I could say the result was as good as the weather today, but they had a home defeat 1-2 this afternoon. Very frustrating game to watch. Their goalie was ranting away plenty, so much so his mum and dad were shouting at him from the sidelines to shut up... Hopefully your news is better Sedge

They had a 2-1 home victory! Two wins in a row...OMG what has happened...but it doesn't last though See how it goes tomorrow, home game and hopefully nice weather! Yip that net can cause problems on occasion.....took them ages to find the net the other night too. If they play like they did they won't be winning any cups...lol. Better luck at the weekend Sedge.
  23. I note you have replied to the 'free books' I will see if any other interest and then if there is I'll get back to you. Thanks for the reply..hope you are enjoying the site.

  24. Did anyone else watch her 'Who do you think you are' last night on BBC....was really good.
