  1. Thanks!!!

Signor I like a lot of kinds of books, but I prefer mystery, crime, thriller and chick-lit books.

Now I'm reading "A Feast of Crows" by George R.R. Martin

Welcome aboard Ssabry. What are some of the authors you like in the crime/mystery/thriller category. I also enjoy the category.

I have read all the Game of Thrones but became disenchanted with them in books four and five.

Off subject - Spanish wines are some of my favorite - are you familiar with any that you could recommend. My favorite was the 1998 La Rioja Alta Gran Reserve 904.

  2. Also very good, Serena one of the greatest ever women's players wins the Open Championship. She is the best women's player in the last 10 years.

  3. Results of the Lehigh Valley Health Via Marathon (26 mile) run by my GD on Sunday are as follows:

    Her time = 3:10:31

Of all the female runners = she finished 8th of 524

Of all runners = she finished 147  of 1360

  4. Before we moved, we used to live approx. 20 - 30 miles from the orchard where we get peaches and apples. It is an absolutely gorgeous place. Everything is grown there. This is the website of the orchard. If you have time click on it and then "Orchard" and then "ripening schedule" and you will see all the different varieties they grow.

I sure do miss living up there.

We now drive up to the orchard about 3 - 4 times a year for apples and peaches. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us now.

  5. Peacefield - Hope the surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery.

Yes, the honeycrisp was concocted in MN. It is one of my favorites. I was going to buy a half bushel, good thing I didn't.

  6.  That is an excellent resting pulse rate muggle not!

Thanks vodkafan. Whenever a nurse or doctor takes my pulse they look concerned and ask me if it is always that low. My regular doctor though knows that I walk on the treadmill and his response is usually....pulse is good, keep up the exercise.

  7. My wife and I both have a Kindle Fire and we love ours. It has increased my reading speed and enjoyment tremendously. I wouldn't trade it for any of the current stuff. I do enjoy the different lighting schemes and font size options. Like pontalba.....love it, love it, love it.

  8. ^ That is only the weight loss aspect of it. There are so many other reasons to jog/walk, at least for me.

I walk for many reasons including weight, keeping sugar level down, and heart health.

btw, my pulse rate is 44 which is contributed to all the walking I do.

  9. My GD is running in the Lehigh Valley Health Network Via Marathon (26 miles) on Sunday. The Marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon which she ran in a number of years back.

At my age and condition I am stuck with walking  . I walk 7 days a week, usually, on the treadmill for 42 minutes a day at a speed of 3.8 mph.

  10. There is a relatively new 'Jogging' thread in the sports sub-forum. There aren't many of us posting in there at the moment but hopefully that will change over time.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that or I would not have started this topic. :)

  11. Carelia - agree with the other posts, beautiful photos.

Bought a peck of Honeycrisp apples at the orchard 2 weeks ago. They picked the apples too early and they were "sour" (they are supposed to be sweet and crisp). We ate them anyway  but it was like eating green apples.
