Cars
in General Chat
So.. the Tesla S has arrived! I've been for a drive earlier, sitting in the passenger seat and in the back seat. The seats are quite comfortable. The car looks amazing, I love the dark reddish colour. There is plenty of boot space, front and back. The car is fast (0-100 km/h (or 60 mph) in 4.0s IIRC, in fact I prefer we don't accelerate too fast XD) and quite quiet (I love that!). The dashboard screen is very clear and has a lot of technological features. We have the Signature Edition and also the P85+ package (which means we have a slightly better engine and more range).
Here are some of the features I remember:
- The front seats can be adjusted electronically in several different ways and can also be heated
- You can adjust where the sound is coming from
- You can phone wireless by connecting your phone with Bluetooth
- You can navigate somewhere (sat nav)
- You can open and close the roof electronically
- You can listen to the radio or internet radio using 3G (free for the first year, I'm not sure what happens after that tbh), the display will tell you which song is playing. I don't listen to much music but my parents might like this. You can also listen to media from your phone (if connected with Bluetooth) or you can plug in a USB-stick.
- You can browse the internet using 3G
- The car has a camera at the back so you can see what's behind you
- And more, my dad showed me a lot of things but I don't remember them all!
Wow Athena, I am so envious. Both of my cars have most of the features that you have mentioned but they are a far cry from competing with the Tesla. I am sure your parents will enjoy the Tesla. I cannot think of any car I would rather own over the Tesla.......btw, do you mean Satellite Radio instead of Internet Radio. Each of my cars have Satellite Radio and I would find it difficult to give up now that I am used to it. It has commercial free music of any type you want to listen to plus all other kinds of programming. I was in the car driving for 8 hours today and listened the whole time to the first decade of Rock N Roll.

I'm really reluctant to put this into this section, because I'd recommend it to anyone, but it's from a publisher of children's books, so I'll leave it here.
This is really all you need to know...
Please, do not read any reviews which give away more than this - it's a book which needs to be discovered, with no preconceptions. It's beautifully written, and had me gripped from start to finish. I loved Seth, and maybe Thomasz even more. I find myself constantly thinking about it, and want desperately to discuss it with someone!Go read it, then come back and tell me your thoughts!Harry Potter was a children's book read and enjoyed by adults. I believe this book is even more suited for adults. I finished the book while on vacation and totally agree with the "Boss". The book was non-stop excitement and I am still amazed at the story-telling. The only problem is it will be extremely difficult and even impossible to discuss the book without giving away the many turns of direction in the writing. anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will now try other books by the author. Question....why hasn't this author been recommended to me previously.

Alfred Hitchcock was excellent, almost as good as as it gets.

Well, it certainly isn't on my wish list. I just bought it.
I will read it while on vacation next week, between lobster dinners.

In my opinion the best book is `A Storm of Swords`, the third book, because`A Feast of Crows` is more boring, it seems like nothing happens and if `Dance with Dragons` is the same.... They have so many pages!!! However I like Danaerys and Signor if you say that there are interesting things about hee, it will worth it.
Cuppy I like J.K.Rowlimg, I love Harry Potter, and I like `Casual Vacancy`, Agatha Christy, Stephen King, Marian Keyes, Anne Perry....
What author do you like?
Muggle As I said I like Agatha Christie and Anne Perry
Do you have any recommendation? I love mistery and crime novela so any suggestion I will listen to.
I only like white wine and my favourite brand is `Albariño` Do you know it? But it is said that La Rioja`s wine are very very good.
Have you ever been in Spain?
There are two authors in the mystery/crime/thriller category that I enjoy. Robert B. Parker (especially his Spenser series)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_B._Parker#Novels and James Lee Burke (Dave Robichaeux series). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Lee_Burke
I love the Albarino whites especially Burgans and Val Do Sosego. They are some of my favorite whites.
Have never been to Spain but would love to visit.

I received a telephone call last week asking me if I would be interested in working part time at home for the same Company that I recently retired from. It would be working one 10 hour day a week (my requirement).
Also, while at a get-together on Saturday at a lake house (29 people attended) one of my friends, who is still working, told me of an important project that he will be heading up at the same Company where I received the call last week. He also asked me if I would be interested in coming back to work for the same Company. However, this job would be full time for 3 to 6 months but I could still work at home although it would require frequent travel requiring weeks away from home.
Neither of the jobs are for sure and I have not made up my mind yet if I would accept either, or which, of the jobs if offered. Money isn't a problem with me but it seems like retirement just isn't up my alley. I will probably need to make a decision soon. I gave them my cell phone number as we will be on vacation next week.

Janet - I am curious. There is a Somerset in Pennsylvania but I doubt that would be the one you reside?
