  1. Idealized, yes I am sure. It was however based on the family that lived on the mountain in Schuyler, Virginia. Schuyler wasn't too far from where I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia. I went through the museum house that is constructed to be identical to the house in the TV series. It seemed strange to be in the house. It was an excellent TV series.
  2. I need to learn that lesson. I put a 3/5 rating on the book Take Me With You and since have decided it deserves at least a 3.5/5 or maybe even a 4/5 rating. )
  3. Leave it to kids. They make the most out of everything.
  4. Ah, Bonanza!!! One of the great TV Westerns. How could you not love "Hoss". Sorry Chrissy for taking this off--topic. Little House On The Prairie was a pretty darn good show.
  5. Without question, for me Stephen King is the best. "IT" is one heck of a book. I don't believe I have read a book by him that I didn't enjoy. The "Gunslinger" series was also just outstanding especially the book with the "Train" demanding riddles. Doesn't get much better.
  6. I "pressured" my wife into giving a rating on the two books and this is the result" 4/5 - Don't Let me Go 5/5 - Walk Me Home
  7. Please Help Me I'm Falling - Hank Locklin enough is enough of the "Love" thingie....we could go on forever
  8. I loaned my wife Don't Let Me Go (from my kindle to her kindle) and she finished it last night. She enjoyed the book but not as much as Walk Me Home.
  9. Interesting link Chrissy. I may take a look at her memoirs, sounds like something I would like. Speaking of a cross-country trip. My son and his daughter just completed a trip (drove it) from Orlando, Florida to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. It was about 5000 miles one way. His daughter flew back on Saturday and my son is going to make the drive back by himself (I told them they were crazy for driving that far a distance but of course they paid no attention to me ). They were in Alaska 2 weeks visiting his other daughter who was there working on an internship. They filmed a short documentary on that part of Alaska while there but probably nothing will come of it.
  10. Oh, Oh, I'm Falling In Love Again - Jimmy Rodgers
  11. When you have time, try Walk Me Home by Catherine Ryan Hyde.
  12. Agree, it is a good read.
  13. Chapel Of Love - Dixie Cups
  14. First of all....drugs and alcohol doesn't make it "manly". In addition to what Ruth recommended (Blood Meridien), try almost anything by Cormac McCarthy......especially The Road, No Country For Old Men, and All The Pretty Horses (1st book in the trilogy). This is probably some of the best reading you will find.
  15. I am reading where it was the strongest earthquake in your area in 25 years. It must have been terrible to go through it, not to even mention the destruction it caused. Really sorry to hear of the damage but hope everyone is ok.
