  1. I think that perceptions are perhaps just a front in both cases Kell, and there is certainly a lot wrong with the west that is just as shocking, although I take your point. Your last post too is interesting. I am going to get hold of this book. The question is have this country gone too far? Also you have brought up the question of what system does/can gain such respect. With so many different types of people in society, it seems a difficult thing to do. I can see that this system would actually work for some people. For example, there are ways of getting respect, I have seen and been shocked by but they have worked, although I know they would not work for a different type of person.
  2. Actually, nobody believed Voldemort was back until the end of book five. It was the evil new head teacher from the ministry who replaced Dumbledore that banned it out of spite. What was her name? Umbridge was it???
  3. I wouldn't be so sure about that.. There are plenty of people around who seem to think women are there to serve men, and should do as they are told.
  4. No they banned quidditch that year didn't they?
  5. That sounds interesting..
  6. Technical term?
  7. Awww. I know he was famous and have heard a lot about him. Don't think I read anything of his though.
  8. As if I don't have enough of that already..
  9. Well I wouldn't. Apparently baby is considered full term at 37 wks. I'm 37wks 3 days. Besides, she hasn't responded to me climbing ladders, moving furniture, or busting a gut to get this test piece right at band..
  10. I second that. It sounds absolutely wonderful..
  11. Obviously there is something I shouldn't read there then.
  12. Sam - I too fell in love with Aragorn, on paper, and in film. I still rather love Viggo. Shhh don't tell Drex;)
  13. I may do, quite possibly.
  14. Good. I thought you might shout at me:hide: .
  15. mmmmmm, women who have no sense and have to have everything they want just because they have been told so by the government. If only they had the money to fund their stupidity.. sounds very interesting. Not sure if I'll read it though.
  16. I hadn't read one till The Hogfather. Just didn't get aroundtuit i suppose.
  17. I told OH off on Saturday when he was sorting his books out because it looked as though he had just chucked them all on the settee. "You can't do that with hardbacks", I said, "You'll ruin the covers and bend all the spines!!"
  18. Dogs make great characters. I always loved Nanna in Peter Pan:mrgreen: My favourite character of all time is Gandalf - Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I love his wisdom, mystery, wit and i can't remember what else because somehow my post was deleted:motz:
  19. Exactly Pontalba. I haven't either. I might just have a look at what he's done.. EDIT: He does look good. Very accomplished and interesting. He must have had a lot of knowledge to write those things. What a life to have.
  20. I knew what you were saying KW. I actually agreed with you. I think you misunderstood, but I am not the best at expressing myself. Sorry.
  21. Lol, I think we'd all end up paying for membership knowing what people are liek on here. 200 wouldn't cover it.
  22. I lost all my bookmarks when I moved, and was using bits of paper/post or anything lying around, but I recently found them, including my favourite one which is rather cute and nice girly colours.
