Does anybody know anything about this author from reading his books? I am particularly interested to know what genre he typically writes in. I think he is quite controversial, but my interest lies in my recent appointment as manager to someone who is starting to write a book. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I would be upset if one of my uni textbooks, or folios came back ruined. They are very nice books. Fiction books are different.

There is always a place, and on that note, I think I may have to read it and write a response to it.. What's the use in a housewife having a theology degree otherwise?

Well maybe, but in this fast track commercialist world we live in? Maybe in the 50s when words like family, time and marriage meant something. Still, I still think that there is no reason why a lot of relationships that breakdown could not work out. It is made to easy to give up these days.

Not necessarily my opinion, just an observation from seeing men and women together. It is not very easy to understand each other, and because of this people do not work hard enough at relationships these days, especially when they have children. Of course I am not saying we should all be miserable, but looking past the emotion and logically/verbally addressing the situation is a must. There is a lack of communication between the sexes which is paramount in understanding each other.

I know it is because can see it, but this book is obviously written by a woman, (next comment may be seen as sexist so will delete it myself before anyone else does). The man, in my view is being very understanding here. I think many men would just get divorced when the woman nags about such trivial matters. Men really can't be bothered with the emotional side of women (commonly known as nagging).

Definitely looking forward to getting hold of this one. I love versions of Pan/Hook, and this is now something else.

Well I shall see. If I remember correctly there is someting else later on, but I will see if I can finish this long book I'm on at the moment. It is very interesting.

I don't think the gory bits would be in a 7yr old version either Kell. The reason I am not joining the group this time is that I cannot get hold of blindness (which sounds fascinating) and I know that I would have nightmares after Frankenstein. It scared me at school, and the films did too. Not something I wish to relive.

Was bought a big Anne of Green Gables book when I was young but never read it. I'll pick it upand let you know.

Drew likes Lambs hearts/liver plus pigs kidneys, but then he also drinks rotten unpasturised milk.I never thought of stuffing the hearts with sage and onion. Will give it a go see what he thinks. Thanks for the suggestion galactic.

At first that sounded creepy but by the end sounding rather intriguing. May give this a try.

I have just finished Empress Orchid (review in reading circle section). Was a very good read. I am starting 'This Present Darkness' by Frank Peretti.

No they do not. I warm them up on toast for Andy but he also eats them from the tin. They will be fine.

They always want my fave books too. I wanted to reread LOTR two years ago, but Allen and his family had them for ages. Now my to read list is too long, and growing.

Well I have lent about seven books to a friend at church. He might keep them for ayear or two until he has passed them round his wife and children, but they always come back. My sister is reading a couple too. I am just anxious about the Da Vinci Code that I lent to a Christian friend at uni not long before I left. I kepp sending her texts (as a gentle reminder) asking what she thinks.

I had a glass of fruity blossom hill at Mum's on Saturday. I know I shouldn't, but I haven't had any in months, obviously, and that wine is gorgeous.

If it is really that scary I may pick it up some time. I fancy a scare..

I don't like giving books away, but am more than happy to lend them.

We have been swamped with blackberries. I have made four huge jars of jam, and two apple/blackberry pies. There are still loads in the garden that have now gone bad. If I'd have known that I may have sold some jam..

I thought I had the Brethren, but apparently not. All my Grisham's are nicely shelved together.

I read 'The Firm' first. I couldn't put it down. Read it in one/two days. I then read 'The Client' rather quickly too, but then started 'The Testament, but kept reading other books. I will go back to it. I also have 'The Painted House'.
