  1. When I received Karma there was a handy little bookmark in the form of a note from Kell. I didn't need to look for a bookmark, but could start straight away. Thanks Kell. I am now using a bookmark I got in church on Sunday with the three buildings (on one side) and names (on the other side), the church has inhabited over the years.
  2. Michelle, I couldn't help but view that spoiler, but I can say that I did guess, because i haven't read that far yet. I'm only about 120 pages in.
  3. Maybe. I have 80 books with the title children's classics upstairs.
  4. I ususlly use the bbc recipe page when I want inspiration. There are some interesting things on there though.
  5. I was bored with Great Expectations. I wrote some good essays on it when I read it for GCSE coursework, but that is as far as my interest goes. I loved reading Oliver though. The book is much better than the muaical! I've never read any others. Maybe I should have a classics reading list..
  6. I've updated my review of karma. I knew I'd forget something!!!
  7. Aww, thanks Aimz. It really was a good read.
  8. Karma was great. I don't usually like chic-lit, but Karma had an edge because the characters were real. They spoke to me, as I am sure they would to other readers, because the characters generally have much the same characteristics we have in society today. There is a youth culture, a female 'group culture' (those females who make any woman outside there 'group' suffer), and there are love wars (we all have those). Paige, the main character spoke to me, as I too am young and in debt that I can't get rid of. I too, although the older sibling, have a sister who is doted on whereas my successes are more or less ignored. I too longed for love (before i found it), and i made drastic mistakes. I also hated school (loved the work, hated the people). This book is a nice light read with plenty of entertainment, and as Kell mentioned, very funny, but it also has a certain depth. It does make you think. I found myself wondering about the past, present and future of both myself, and humanity as a whole. The questions where is culture taking us, and the question the book poses, what place does karma have, are now enveloping my brain. There are also serious issues posed, such as Paige's health problems with CFS, and debt management. I must point out that I saw some of the outcomes to the plot lines through the book, but that does not make it any less interesting.. The final thing I found interesting I will leave to those who have read the book.. I definitely recommend this book to anybody. I think even men would see a lot within these pages..
  9. I am reading it too, and may pass it on to my mother in law, who worked in one of these places. I haven't got too far with it yet, but I will endeavour to read quicer when the settee isn't dressed in our clothes! So far though, I agree with Lily. It looks like an amazing stroy, and was actually thinking of actively seeking out more by Maggie.
  10. I was planning to finish Karma this week, but cannot see it happening. I didn't get any reading done yesterday because Katie was being clingy, then had colic all evening. I could have read while feeding her all day (as that's all I did), but she tired me out. I am enjoying Karma though, and I shouldn't be too much longer with it. The book is great, although predictable, and also, as I have said to PP, I need to be careful, as the main character is so like me that it s likely to affect my mental state if i am not careful, which makes it a very interesting read..
  11. Maybe it should be retitled dreambooks, and we can all talk about dreams we have when reading certain books. Dreams seem to be related to what we are thinking, so you can't be the only one with that sort of story, especially as a lot of us seem to read in bed..
  12. Aww thank Amy. Judy - I thnk I heard omethng about it but haven't received it yet. It's when she's a bit older I think..
  13. And how does that work exactly? I have 12 on my shelf to read, and 18 that I want to get hold of, so that makes 20 altogether, and I am sure their is a couple more on my list (on my computer) tha I haven't put on here yet. My list keeps growing (thanks to this forum). I certainly want to read the second of Raven Hart's vampire books if I ever get the chance..
  14. I know kids like libraries. That's what I mean. Katie is far too young to uderstand what books are at the moment. As long as we have some picture books and baby books I can look at those with her for now. When she's old enough I'll then take her to the library..
  15. It seems I need to reserve quite a few of the books I want on line. It is a nice sized library, but is small compared to many others, however, they don't seem to stock popular books very much (so it is good for finding something different). I have therefore, paid a few 60p reservation fees. My library seems to be good for reference books and they have a good children's library. We might as well have a children's library upstairs. When I sort those books out properly I will decide if it is worthwhile enrolling Katie yet. If we have enough picture/baby books I might wait until she is old enough to appreciate goin and can get something out of visiting.
  16. I did this with the Vampire's Seduction out of quickness while feeding Katie, but I promis to be careful with Karma. It is Purple Poppy's book. It still looked brand new when it arrived on my doorstep so I'm being extra careful with it, especially when handling the baby.
  17. Lekker! I wasn't exactly sure if you were still reading it or not. I thought you were. Let me know what you think..
  18. No probs. It was a great book. I haven't read a really wonderful book outside the fantasy genre for quite a while. I'm not very good at writing reviews though so I can't really do you justice. Thank you for the book, and to Michelle for the competition. Hey Mrstrecool, how did you get on with The Vampire's Seduction??
  19. *List updated I have finally finished Raven Hart's The Vampire's Seduction, a truly wonderful book. It is well written, has many levels, yet is also very entertaining. If you have never read a vampire novel I recommend it highly. If you love romance or deep, meaningful, life-applicable plot lines then this is a book for you. My favourite character was Jack (not too sure why). He is fun loving, sensitive (for a man;) ), and has a capturing aura about him. The Vampire's Seduction is full of twists (but not too many), that keep the reader guessing and intrigued. What's more is I cannot wait to read the next book, as I love the characters and the storylines. Something I often get bored with is a series, or books by the same author, but I have afeeling that won't happen here. I have just started Karma by Holly A Harvey, a nice light change from the Vamipre's Seduction. It seems a good read so far.
  20. Yes yes yes. I am traditional on all occasions because it makes great family occasions. I love getting the family together. I would have lamb at easter but I don't like it. Don't know what I'm getting this yr though as oh is in germany and i'm going to my mum's..
  21. Me neither. I was just talking about it today in fact.
  22. Raven, before you go, I would like to say that I am very much enjoying the book you sent me. I'm sorry I have not yet been able to finish it and ask you more questions. I'm sure you can understand having a new baby in the house, but I love the book. I have never read a vampire book before. It is very interesting and informative on that front so thank you for that, also the book has many levels and goes quite deep. I like Jack's character too.
  23. I have been doing something extremely bad since I have had Katie. I've been reading my book while feeding her, then just leaving it face down on the page on the armchair in the bedroom. It makes life easier than trying to mess with bookmarks with a baby.
  24. I can't do anything in the bath any more. I bath very quickly before my bubbly starts crying for another feed.
  25. I like to sit in the garden too, in fact, one of these days I might just not do the housework and take Katie and my book to the park for the afternoon.. (did I just see a pink elephant outside? )
