  1. Reformatting is wiping everything and reinstalling windows. If your computer came with a CD it's actually not too difficult, but you do lose everything saved on there.

It's such a shame it's affecting kaspersky, because I've found that really useful before when I cleaned up a computer. My mum's elderly neighbour had downloaded something, and her son decided that he could sort it - he downloaded all sorts of rogue anti-spyware programmes, and created havoc! I eventually sorted it, but it was time consuming.

Now I must sleep! Sorry I couldn't find you a complete solution!

  2. Ceinwenn, from what I can see, Spyware Guard can cause quite a few problems on your computer. The problem these days is actually finding somewhere reliable to ask for help, or get removal instructions/programmes from.

You could start by visiting the sites of the well known AV programs, and seeing if they have an online scanner. Other than that, do you know anyone who cleans up computers.. and knows what they're doing!?

Occasionally though, the best (sometimes only) way to get really cleaned up is to reformat.

  3. This is a thread about Inkheart somewhere.. it's a book that I read a while ago, and really enjoyed - but then people were posting in the thread that they didn't like it. I was shocked! :D

I went to see the film with Bethany, but I couldn't remember enough about the details to know how much it stuck to the book. It also didn't help that for some reason I was feeling rather unwell, and had to go out a couple of times! :D

  4. Michelle - Perhaps there is an opportunity here to split the Non-fiction forum into sections? I really like to read books about science, and always looking for recommendations, but they are a little hard to find as all non-fiction books are together, unlike the different genres for fiction. Would this be possible?

Thank you for the thought, and it is something I will keep an eye on. My concerns at the moment are a) there's not a huge amount of posts in here yet to warrant splitting, and :D I think it would be difficult to decide on the actual sections. As I say though, I will monitor things.

I don't see the problem in it being here, if people are going to get offended, stay out of the thread with 'prayer' in the title.

    I quite agree! :D

  5. This really isn't a debate I want to get into - my main point is that your discussion was about religion in general, and whether it provides 'answers'.. whereas Katie was simply reviewing a book about prayer.

Whether or not you feel you fit in here is something only you can decide, but I am not happy to see religious debates on here, mainly because they usually cause a lot of upset.

  6. Dont bother anyone... Im thinking maybe this is too hard for people :D bye all

This does seem a rather strange comment - you did get a few recommendations, and it was simply a little tangent discussion that happened.

Going back to recommendations, you'll probably find plenty of ideas if you take a look at the threads in this section.. there should be some discussions, and some reviews.

  7. Ivyleaf, I certainly see where you're coming from. I would imagine that alot people watching BB aren't going to analyse their thoughts, and realise that it's some sort of 'sympathy' vote.. for most, I think it's human nature.

Added: In the same way, I get annoyed when "talent shows" have children on.. there is always that 'aww, aren't they cute' vote!

  8. I have a question about librarything - I don't see anywhere where it specifies whether the lifetime membership price you pay is an one-off or an anual thing. Anyone know?

As there's a yearly membership and a lifetime one, I assume that the latter is a one off payment. They suggest $10 for yearly and $25 for lifetime, so no one is going to pay the higher amount if it's annual.
