  1. In pursuit of the Proper Sinner - Elizabeth George (Inspector Lynley)
  2. There are quite a lot of sub-topics for the various genres eg classics, crime etc - have a look round and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it! Welcome by the way.
  3. Everybody wants to rule the world - Tears for Fears
  4. It's odd here, very dull and muggy, but windy too which cools it down a bit.
  5. Dull this morning, and much cooler.
  6. Was hot and humid yesterday, culminating in rain and storms overnight, today was dull and muggy, a bit of rain but nothing much.
  7. Been doing some gardening, well planting really as I bought some new plants which need potting up. Managed to do it in between showers!
  8. Basically they should have left PofI after series 4, don't really know why they bothered with series 5.
  9. Thanks Athena, hope you're enjoying your weekend too.
  10. Was very muggy earlier, then got hot and sunny, now raining with a bit of thunder.
  11. Yup, I enjoyed the Eyre Affair too!
  12. Night Shift by Charlaine Harris - 3rd and final part of the "Midnight, Texas" trilogy and the residents of the strange little town are increasingly disturbed when people begin arriving in the town and committing suicide at the intersection. Something seems to be stirring underneath the junction, and after Lemeul finally manages to translate some ancient texts, they realise that the key to it all seems to be the local witch, Fiji, who has family problems of her own. This was an enjoyable finale, which pretty much wrapped everything up, and saw the main characters develop further, with even a bit of romance for some of them, written with the author's trademark humour with a touch of darkness. 8/10
  13. Ah thought so, they're meant to be very good for you, lots of protein etc.
  14. Yes I'll enter a book if I happen to read one that's set outside the UK, so thanks for the list.
  15. So what's the difference between that and being a vegan - from the "ovo" bit does that mean you eat eggs? Which of course would make you a non-vegan!
  16. It's a holiday weekend in the UK, but just Monday. We have a similar weather forecast - it's meant to get very hot and then some storms over the weekend, and then cool down a bit, thankfully, to a more manageable 22 (they're forecasting 28 tomorrow and Saturday).
  17. The man who sold the world - David Bowie (or Lulu)
  18. When I read it a few years ago I was surprised at how many familiar quotations I came across. It's also very relevant today, I'd love to know what Oscar would have made of our celebrity obsessed media for example, and reality TV.
  19. I find that happens so often with thrillers - they start off really well, keep you gripped - and then fall apart in the last few pages (or minutes if it's a TV programme or film). They never seem to know how to finish things do they? Shame to feel let down after you've gone along with it.
  20. Yes I must dig out the second one to read! Couldn't quite get to it last night without the pile collapsing
  21. Sounds an interesting combination, most crosses seem to have JR in them (or border collies for the larger dogs). She sound sweet. I love seeing some of the old names too.
  22. Pretty hot at lunchtime but not too bad, quite cloudy which holds the heat off a bit I suppose.
  23. Yes it's awful, she must be feeling terrible, it's a kind gesture from her.
