  1. That's sad, I heard she was ill. Very tragic.

    Hello

    Hi and welcome.
  3. I didn't watch the most recent series, though The Abominable Bride was, well, pretty abominable, and gave up on it!
  4. Heavy wind and rain, or heavy rain and wind - either way, it's vile!
  5. Been raining since about six this evening, meant to be worse tomorrow. Still very windy too.
  6. Well put Talisman, and there is a cap on the amount an author can earn from PLR ie library loans, think it's about 6K, which no one can be expected to live on...
  7. I must admit I found the Twilight series was a case of diminishing returns, with the 4th book being the weakest, sadly by the end I didn't really care what happened to any of them, and felt it was a bit of an anti-climax. I enjoyed the first two books though.
  8. I agree about gone girl; I've deliberately avoided any book that's compared to it since I read it!
  9. Finally finished Timeless, good fun, loved the clothes in the Al Capone episode. Pleased to see the final series of Ripper Street is being shown soon.
  10. Hope your foot gets better soon!
  11. I liked Jones, and also Charlie (best looking imho), new guy is a bit bland so far.
  12. I think so too, after all without authors there wouldn't be publishers, booksellers etc would there?!
  13. We've got heavy rain and thunder, rumbled around a while ago and now it's a full blown storm, which wasn't forecast!
  14. Dog sitting for 2 weeks from Sunday! I've got a couple of days off week but unfortunately can't get much more due to holidays, people on long term sick leave etc so my mum will be putting up with the hound most of the time! And how is it June? Where did it come from?
  15. yes it's a good old ripping yarn isn't it! I thought the BBC version updated it quite well, probably one of the best episodes.
  16. I've just bought 3: Let me tell you about a man I knew - Susan Fletcher The Dry - Jane Harvey The Secrets of Wishtide - Kate Saunders
  17. Hi Ally and welcome. There's a big section on Crime here which might provide a few suggestions for you.
  18. I've put the Essex Serpent as my Essex book, as there aren't that many books set there unless they're about witches or gangsters! So it made a nice change to read about something different for once.
  19. That's a blast from the past - clever!
  20. Same in the UK re airport food (and motorway service station food is even more expensive). Have a good trip and hope everyone's OK!
