  1. Well, I for one like the cinema. This way people will have a different option on how to watch it.
  2. Last night I read Dracula for hours and only started sleeping slightly before 3h30. I was finishing Jonathan's journal, which was okay, and once I started Mina's journal I became gripped. In the beginning I thought the author was giving away too much information, but the current suspense works on it really well.
  3. This evening I watched part II. It's a good film, it holds up well to the first. It feels like a futuristic screen of the first film with an 80s tone.
  4. I didn't know South Riding, it seems an interesting book.
  5. I agree, while reading the book my empathy towards Raskolnikov grew. However, I kind of liked him from the start, and with time we learn the horrible circumstances he went through and how he took their impact.
  6. Welcome to the forum, Amber. We're having a group read of A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, you can join it if you want.
  7. I'm not sure what to expect. At first glance, it feels like Episode IV more than others. The cinematography in the trailer is very good, as well as the special effects and the settings. However I'm worried about the story, I think since Episode V everything has had a terrible plot. The trailer felt like Christmas.
  8. The match starts at one thirty, and the trailer is only shown during half-time. So, I think it will be at three.
  9. I'm a fan of Simon Schama's Power of Art and A History of Britain tv series. His books could be interesting as well. I'd like to be in that Waterloo event.

I'm going to risk it and write that New Zealand is a favourite to win it.
  11. I fear Nothing the most.
  12. Those two links are a very interesting read for those who want to learn about Svetlana Aleksijevitj, thanks emelee.
  13. Is there any you recommend? I wouldn't like anything artificial or with jumpscares, but something real.
  14. All I've found was that the volumes 6 and 8 were auctioned on Ebay in 2013. I couldn't find anything more. Chester is a town in England, so he could be from there, and N.P. could be a honorific. I take the guess these books were printed and binded for particular people. Perhaps you can find the information you seek in Chester's library, or on a digital platform for old documents.
  15. Infirm of purpose: 'tis but the eye of adulthood that fears the written jest.
  16. Congratulations, Ischa. 16/10 World Bread Day: for the same price we've grown all family bread, eg: grandmother's bread 400+200G for 0.65€. For this is our tradition, celebrate today with family. By a local supermarket chain.
  17. It doesn't lack behind other webcomics in general, but it also doesn't distinguish itself from them. I know nothing of how to make them, so unfortunately I can't suggest improvements. It has some cool references, and jokes that demand more knowledge or thinking. As a whole it's nice to read.
  18. Starting today Dracula by Bram Stoker for Halloween, fifteen days late. I didn't write a review for the last book read, because I failed to take notes on each short story and therefore I don't have much to say about it; I don't want to repeat the overwritten and mixed confusion of my last review.
  19. 3 May. Bistritz. - Left Munich at 8.35 p.m. on 1st May, arriving at Vienna early next morning; should have arrived at 6.46, but train was an hour late. - Dracula by Bram Stoker
  20. I'll watch the series and then I'll get back to you.
  21. It's beautiful.
  22. Tomas Alfredson is one of the active directors I like most, even though I have only seen two of the five films he has directed. It's a shame Alfredson's animated adaptation of an Astrid Lindgren novel won't see the light of day. He'll now direct the adaptation of a Jo Nesbo's crime novel and, although it may be another good film, I fear he becomes typecasted to Bond and Bourne films; however, he seems very careful with what he chooses to do. I really liked Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but I'm not aware of its shortcomings when compared to the tv series or the book. Were there important events to the story not present in the film? I understand the limitations, and in these cases it becomes a game of how well the director chooses what to sacrifice. However, what you've put under spoilers shows that some things were not ignored, but wrongly adapted; if I had seen the series before, I wouldn't like that either. Do you think Oldman was asked to make an impression of Guinness, or was he intimidated by the role?
  23. I don't think it is a spoiler at all, but to each its own.
