I know, right? She goes from AS at nearly 1200 pages and then does less than 100 with Anthem. Proof she does know limits That was a tough one. -

Anthem is good, I liked it. I was happy to see her on your list! -
Title: Take Me With You Author: Catherine Ryan Hyde Genre: YA? But contemporary fiction. Pages: 351 It’s like Catherine Ryan Hyde can attack all your emotions at once. You must surrender your vulnerability. You will submit to the human emotions that make up a CRH novel. You ever get those moments in a book where your tears overrun your eyes and they stream down your cheeks? Ya, this is Catherine Ryan Hyde and that’s all that should be said. Take Me With You is the story of August, who breaks down in his camper in the middle of nowhere and ends up taking the mechanic’s children with him on a summer of adventure to the national parks of the southwest and central parts of the United States. He is on a mission to scatter the remains of his dead son. That’s about 50% and I don’t know how much the Amazon, let alone the Goodreads, synopsis is, but I like to write my own and not spoil everything. I don’t feel like anything else of the plot should be given away. Is that an easy out? Perhaps, but one I am able to grant for most novels I must say, if you are looking for a first novel from CRH, I recommend Don’t Let Me Go, but wow, this one is a gentle way to introduce a reader to her work. You know which way the author is going, it’s the getting there, the journey that is the event. CRH constantly brings up deep seeded emotions, ones you could fathom, but didn’t know existed. She consistently makes people known for their importance in her character’s lives, this book bringing to me a reminder of my brother who passed away in 2006. Recommended, wish I had read it sooner, as always, CRH novels make my life richer. Another Bravo for Catherine Ryan Hyde.

Just that you read a lot of books with female protagonists Hm... I thought you read it last year after I did, but I could be wrong! Oh- Edited: I started CRH's Take Me With You. So good and only 30% in! She rocks.

I thought I said only non fiction I was just talking about Unbroken today... might be due for a re read (I think it would be #4!) But I am going to try some fiction, All the Light We Cannot See perhaps.
-
I only read WWII non fiction Not much help! One of the reasons I am holding off on All the Light We Cannot See and The Dynamite Room. Which I think you are enjoying and did enjoy? You might be interested in Chris Bohjalian's Skeletons at the Feast.

Ya but you know, I will probably be reading Calamity next year

Title: Firefight (The Reckoners Book 2) Author: Brandon Sanderson Genre: Science Fiction Pages: 421 Dates: 7/6- 7/9 Brandon Sanderson’s The Reckoners series continues with book 2, Firefight. Wow. I don’t even know where to start with this review. This was a terrible book! It picks up with protagonist teenager David (Epic killing Reckoner, Steelheart- slayer) just after Sanderson’s short story Mitosis. (You don’t have to read Mitosis to make sense of Firefight, but it’s only 95 pages and is worth it.) I pre-ordered Firefight, my first pre-order, just after reading Steelheart last year and eagerly awaited January for its release. For some reason, I am just now getting around to reading it. Mitosis was good and left me anticipating this book. So David kills Epics and Epics are people with supernatural skills that have been bestowed on them, how or by what, we do not know. But they are bad guys. They create destruction and rule the “old” cities of the United States under tyranny. The Reckoners slay them. In Firefight, they enter Babylon Restored, formerly known as Manhattan, to kill High Epic Regalia. David goes along with the mission and keeps an eye out for ex- Reckoner Megan: the girl he fell in love with in Steelheart... and herself a now known Epic. This book was filled with silliness. I realize it is YA, but it really dumbs down the audience. I can’t give any particulars without giving out the plot twists, which aren’t many and are not twists. From ridiculous weapons to the secret of the Epics, it just didn’t congeal. For a 13-15 year old boy? I’m not so sure about that either. I think this is my worst read of the year. At least it read fast. Calamity is slated for February next year.

Started Catherine Ryan Hyde's Take Me With You. And let me just say, how refreshing to get a good read after a disappointing one. CRH is so reliable.

We are seeing that this weekend!

Well, I wouldn't say "mastered" by ANY means lol but I've been practicing and finally got the "knit stitch" correct in my knitting. Now I just need to do it consistently right and hold my wool LOOSER! But the point is, I am (sort of) actually knitting!! Preparing for a presentation for my history class on Beat Poet Allen Ginsburg's Howl. (It became part of an obscenity trial and won, championing Freedom of Speech rights). That's on Tuesday- yuck, I don't look forward to the speech part of it, but I think my paper isn't that bad.

I'm 70% into Brandon Sanderson's Firefight, the follow up to Steelheart. Mmmm... its ok.
-
I am trying to talk myself out of the Valis trilogy... did you buy that one as well? It sounds like quite the ride.
-
Most of what I've heard about it is that it is like Twin Peaks... that I am unsure of as that was just a few years ahead of me. I am 150 pages into Brandon Sanderson's Firefight (The Reckoners) book 2.

Ya but your books are like a billion pages! Have I asked before if she is related to Geronimo? Did you say brother and sister? I'm glad you are liking the series. Loving that library for you
