  1. I'm ready to start reading The Giver now , or maybe the weekend would be fine.
  2. I've been to the library, and I now have a copy of Lois Lowry's The Giver! So I'm all ready to read . A slightly off tangent - the local literary festival will be in March, and I noticed that Matt Haig will be there!! . That should be great!!
  3. Ditto. We found a bag of vinyl and cassettes when clearing out the attic - they had been there since 1990, maybe even earlier - so I have been very nostalgic. I have found some of the NME cassettes - one of the best for me is NME 035 – The World At One (1987). The beginning of my love of world music, and especially African music . This is the first tract, and it is still fantastic! Salif Keita's voice was so good
  4. Hey, some new Howey stuff!
  5. Congratulations on the nominations Michelle!
  6. Ooooh, I'm so pleased that you loved this one poppyshake - I was intrigued by the cat on the cover, and the blurb too - so this one is on my wishlist. And I must read Love, Nina soon....
  7. Yes, it was really good , and I'm looking forward to the 2nd one in the series too sometime. Well I hope they don't read too quickly, as I'm also waiting for The Giver from the library this week too . I really want to read The Giver next .
  8. No pressure....no pressure at all...
  9. Good stuff there! I have The Martians in TBR, so that will be good too
  10. It is a good book, chesilbeach
  11. We were not very observant, were we?
  12. Finished The Mangle Street Murders last night . I'm now still plodding on with Atwood's Lady Oracle.
  13. Nice review . I tried A Farewell To Arms last year, as my first Hemingway novel, and it was way too stark (for me), and I gave up early in the book. Maybe try this one sometime.
  14. Yay, another Flavia de Luce fan!!!
  15. Wow - Plant's cover is good . But it's hard to beat the Tim Buckley original.....
  16. Wow! That is one that's waiting for me at the library!!
  17. I'm happy that you liked this one , another one in my ebook TBR - and I bought this one of the kindle daily deals recently. Decent deals are quite rare in the daily deals there days.
  18. I've got She's Come Undone on my library list - good to hear that you liked that one . You see to be on a roll with good books at the moment
  19. Getting into Atwood's Lady Oracle again (no, I mean it, and it is good), though this book needs some dedication (something I lack in my reading mojo at the moment .
  20. Hee hee . Ahh, too late eh? Me and Frankie could start the BCF branch , as that fanclub looked a bit...sad ... ...
  21. *shiver* and *makes the hairs on my neck stand up*
  22. Requested the nice hardback from the on-line library this morning, and as it's very popular at the moment (i'm 7 out of 7 queue who have requested it) so it may take a few weeks until I get to read it. TRP was such a wonderful book, it was both humorous and bitter-sweet . I'm kicking myself for having it in my ebook TBR for so long...
  23. Ahh, Jock and the "sick university", and the surreal nuns, ...it was so good.
  24. A Very Peculiar Practice - I loved that one, and I don't even remember seeing repeats.....maybe it is of it's time, and would be seen even too surreal?
  25. Do you think that this a form of masochism? I admit that her book is good, but it require dedication - and I am so fickle at the moment, I'm easily led away by new, shiny books.... . Hope Paper Town is going to be good, and your reading mojo improves
