  1. Glad to hear you liked it! Nice review . It's the first in a series, right? Does it end or is it more open-ended? What I mean is, is it necessary to read the whole series in one go, or can I read the first book as standalone? I don't own the other books in the series, so wondering if I should buy them all first or whether I can just read the first one. Normally I prefer to have all books in a series before reading it.
  2. Sorry . I haven't fully read a lot of books about this subject, because judging by their synopses and flicking through them it seemed too easy for me. I've seen some good ones, but I can't remember any titles or anything, sorry .
  3. So many positive reviews for this book! I might have to buy it and read it for myself XD..
  4. I have a Kindle Paperwhite and am very happy with it.
  5. I would like to know this answer too, if anyone here knows.
  6. Great that you two are interested . I agree, frankie, one day might be best to start off with. A special thread sounds good. XD I'm excited too, I thought it was just me being silly but nice to hear you feel the same!
  7. I've read the first book in the Septimus Heap series and thought it was quite good. My sister owns a few of the series but I've only read the first one. I recently bought the first one on Kindle, I'll reread it and if I like it again I might have to get the other ones in the series. I assume you like it, right (or you wouldn't read up to part seven)?
  8. I came across this idea on YouTube. A read-a-thon (a marathon for books) is where, for 24 hours, several days or a week you try to do a lot of reading, with a group of people. I'm posting this because I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in doing a read-a-thon for a day, two days or a week. I did a search for readathon but only three topics came up and in them it doesn't seem like a read-a-thon happened with forum members. I thought this could be an interesting idea, often I would like to do more reading but I end up doing other things instead. Normally I need some time after each book to process the story, I don't know if it would work for me. It may be a nice distraction though, from stress etc. (I couldn't do a marathon in ie. watching tv shows, films or video games. Too much (sound) input would overwhelm me (it might happen during the readathon, too, tbh)) I'm by no means suggesting you give up important things, you should do work, spend time with your partner, children, family, pets and not neglect anything important. I couldn't do with much less sleep than I sleep atm, so I won't be staying up late or anything like that (you can if you want to, of course). It's not the goal who reads the most books or pages (though it would be fun to post statistics at the end, but I am a statistics nut ). Books read can be TBR, re-reads, ebooks, paperbooks, fiction, non-fiction, any book you like, as long as you want to read it. Personally I plan to read both paperbooks and Kindle books as well as TBR and maybe a reread to make things slightly easier. I'd suggest picking books of various lengths and genres, ie. shorter and longer books and from different genres or playing in different time periods or locations, to make things more interesting and varied. Of course if you only like one genre then be sure to read that. I didn't have a specific time/date(s) in my mind for this, it could be soon or a few months away (of course I'm not available all the time, but that holds for everyone). During the read-a-thon (whether it'd be for a day, two or several days, or a week) we could post about our progress (though I realise we could also just do this in the What are you reading topic). Anyway, would anyone be interested in a thing like this? If not, I'll do it on my own sometime perhaps, thought I'd ask my favourite booklovers though to see if anyone'd be interested . EDIT: For the next read-a-thons we have agreed that it take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday each month, on the dates that it's the first Friday of the month.
  9. That's quite interesting! They're quite beautiful, even though I don't like the thought of book destroying/mutilating at all.
  10. If I didn't have my condition and was more sociable and less prone to get stressed and had lots of energy and time, I might like to join a book club. It's really nice to read all your experiences.
  11. Nice lists! A lot of the classics on your list are on my TBR as well . I wish you a good time reading!
  12. Yeah that makes sense, I'm planning to take my time with them so hopefully by the time I get to the end, there'll be another one available etc. Breaking it up in sections sounds like a good idea! I might have to do that. Glad to hear you liked both War and Peace and Persuasion. I'll have to get around reading them, sometime (Persuasion is in an omnibus which is heavy so that's also why I'm dreading reading it XD even though I may be able to read it for free or for cheap on the Kindle).
  13. Three times, yes. I'll try again later, maybe redownloading it helped.
  14. I've started to read Charles H. Elliott and Laura L. Smith - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder For Dummies, but at a certain page my Kindle kept crashing :/. I've restarted it several times (didn't help) and redownloaded the file (I don't know if this will help). I'm reluctant to try again as I'm worried it will crash again (silly, maybe). I was sitting in the sun so maybe it overheated? If that's the case it should be okay now that it's cooled down.
  15. x XD I know , it's a lot. My wishlist became a lot bigger after I started to read book blogs and since I joined this forum. It doesn't help that I have somewhat broad tastes in books. I don't know if I'll buy them all eventually (a few might be scrapped off of it if I read a negative review here etc), would like to though XD.
  16. This book sounds amazing, I should read it soon (it's on my TBR). I haven't read much science-fiction lately, not sure why.
  17. x I'll keep this in mind when I read it .
  18. Those dogs look really sweet, pontalba !
  19. Good luck with your exams, bobblybear! I hope they go well . Have fun with your 3DS afterwards.
  20. I'm hoping they'll release them all on the Kindle (I think atm they have up to number 35 ish?), I would love to read the ones I've never read (because not everything was published here in the Netherlands). It's also possible to buy them and ship them overseas, from the UK or US, but it would cost me quite a bit of money. I'm glad to meet another fan!
  21. I saw that episode a few days ago, it's great!
  22. Same here, I didn't like him in that film, but he's really good in many other films!
  23. Welcome here ! I love Jane Eyre but I haven't read a lot of other classics yet (unless it was Dutch literature, for school, and a few English ones). I do own quite a few of them, but somehow I'm worried that they'll be too complicated for me, so I often put it off and read something easier instead. I do look forward to finally read a Jane Austen book as well as War and Peace and other classics. I think I'll start with a short one, ie. maybe Charles Dickens - Oliver Twist. I may read Game of Thrones soon, glad to hear you like it .
