  1. I think for me it's to try and guess who did it before the main character does (or main characters). I don't usually manage and I don't usually give it a lot of thought but it's just nice to read a story now and then that's a mystery / crime related. I used to really like thrillers too but nowadays I prefer a story that focusses on solving the case rather than something that's a lot more action based. I guess tastes can change. I also like reading about the characters and how the crime affects them, sometimes on multiple levels. I also like reading about how things work for the police and how they solve the case and how it all works (of course differently in different countries).
  2. Wow, I didn't know your mojo wasn't 100% for a few years now. It's amazing it's back, I hope it will stay a long time .
  3. Well done, Kylie ! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend .
  4. I hope you'll have some fun reading tomorrow afternoon then ! P.S. I love this emoticon .
  5. Here's a photo of my suitcase filled with books from het Boekenfestijn ! I'll be cataloguing them in a few days, first it's the read-a-thon now, tomorrow and Sunday so I want to get some reading done.
  6. x I'd also be interested in your thoughts on Success as an Introvert for Dummies, I hope you like it . I like the For Dummies format too. I might have to look at Mindfulness for Dummies though I'm not sure if it'd work for me since I've read articles and books on mindfulness before and it didn't seem to be very much my thing. Frankie, that's a great review! I'm not sure if it'd be a book for me to be honest but it's great to have read your thoughts on it.
  7. Great review, Kylie, it sounds like a great book ! I'm glad to hear your mojo is doing well .
  8. x I don't necessarily mind that in a book to be honest , though I wouldn't want all the books I read to be very descriptive.
  9. I loved The Hitch'Hikers Guide to the Galaxy series, but to each their own . I'll have to read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell to see how I like that!
  10. Laura, great review ! The book sounds quite good. I might have to add it to my wishlist too . x x I've read a few of her books, though not all of them yet. I've been working my way through them over the years (I have most of them) but I haven't read any in a while (I'm not sure why really). I love the first book in the Dragonriders of Pern series, Dragonflight in English, I own it in Dutch called Drakenvlucht. That one's my favourite. I also love some of the other ones in the series, such as The White Dragon and Dragonsdawn. Others I liked a lot but they weren't as brilliant as the ones I love the most. There was also one book I didn't care for so much, which was Nerilka's Story / The Coelura. Here's a list of the ones I own. I've read The Dragonriders of Pern numbers 1-9 and 11. I started to read them when I was a teenager and found a few in the library. Anne McCaffrey - Crystal Singer 1-3: The Crystal Singer Omnibus Anne McCaffrey; Margaret Ball - Acorna 1: Acorna: The Unicorn Girl Anne McCaffrey; Elizabeth Ann Scarburough - Acorna 3: Acorna's People Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth A. Scarborough - Acorna 7: Acorna's Triumph Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth A. 17. x I'm glad you'll be out of there soon! Good for you for helping the older woman. I hope things will go better with your new work place . x x I hope you find a nice new keyboard . x x Wow, that's a lot! I hope it clears up for you soon. Yesterday I went out for lunch with some people and I went to the book fair. It was all a lot of fun, but I'm quite tired from it. This weekend I hope to be doing a lot of reading as it's the read-a-thon.

x Awwww , I'm so glad he's allright again! It's so sweet when dogs know we're helping them .
  19. I hope you'll get some reading done this weekend, Marie, and that you enjoy your book !
  20. No. 2 and 3 for me definitely too, I don't like awkward sex scenes or too much violence at all. I don't mind it if a police officer shows some emotion, I think that makes them more human sometimes. Humour can be nice but only at the right place for it.
  21. x I don't think it's odd, it's the same for me. But nowadays I don't have many friends left that I see IRL that aren't related to my family, so it's a bit hard to compare. I do know I find it easier to discuss my autism with you lot than with most of my family members or related family members. I'm glad you're comfortable discussing things with us . Think about it, if we all ever were to meet up, all of us introverts might feel uncomfortable!
  22. Thanks ! Is anyone else joining other than the three of us?
  23. Great review ! I'm glad you enjoyed Nicholas Nickelby, it's on my TBR (as are many of Dickens' books).
  24. It's great to see many introverts on here, it makes me feel less weird! I agree Kylie, there are many extroverts out there who don't think the way we are is normal. Back at university most students I met were extroverts and loved to go to parties and social gatherings and such. It was always difficult trying to explain that just studying was difficult and tiring enough for me and that going to any other social thing to do with students wasn't my thing at all and would only cost me lots of energy, I also don't like things like that. A lot of them never really understood I think, oh well. I'm glad I've got you lot as my friends .
  25. I hope you enjoy Breakfast at Tiffany's, I liked the story but found the language use tricky sometimes.
