it was time for straight talking. 'Now buddy, listen here..if you think anywaan with naathin to hide has a multicoloured pony tail then..' 'Oh aah dunno so much', declared Man no.3, a square jawed, duplicitous looking cad sporting a trilby and a maple leaf flag on his tee shirt. 'Aaaah wanna know the truth, y'all', opined a ..... -

'Oh Lord, what have we here?..', exclaimed Man number 2, a raw, thin looking bod with lank, freshly washed hair, tied up in a pony tail, using freshly baled farmland straw. 'Oh there you all are. You see, Burt , I mean, your young man working here yesterday, thought I was a statue to put hats on, and because it's so bloody dull in here, I fell asleep, covered in old mllinery and a few blankets . A bloke travelling all the way from bloody UK getting locked in , nowt to eat aside from cold peas on dry bread, and here you... -

in came three men , switching lights on,boiling kettles, making toast, and I heard the most remarkable conversation. Ensconced in a corner as I was, I had not been seen amongst my pile of blankets on this chilly Milwaukee day. 'Did y'@ll read about the septuagenarian lady who died on a train..?..' asked Man one,a moustachioed bloke aged 43 , in a cowboy hat, with boots with spurs to make him look a proper... -

Jeffrey Archer. I only know him as a Tory politician. His short stories , the characters are rather one dimensional, little depth, with certain omnipresent features. The men are obsessed with money and fantasies of women in stockings and suspenders, police uniforms etc. Like a privileged, upper class version of a fifteen year old boy...I am still reading, to see if anything improves.

sigh, settle down for the night, and sleep. But first, food...God help me man, I want spuds and peas. Entering the back room /kitchen, I put on the light. A green , shiny toaster winked at me, the face on its side smiling and doing a Marilyn Monroe come on smile. It blew me a kiss. Opening a cupboard, I found bread, canned peas, and mashed spud powder. I turned on the kettle. Suddenly there was a flash -

requisite for my continuing travels, and so I visited Millie' s Millinery, a hat shop on Deportment Street, Milwaukee. 'Is Millie in?', I asked the jaded looking youth manning the store. 'Who she..?..',he asked, his drawl making me picture him as Burt Reynolds in a gangster movie, a cigarette hanging from his mouth( though this lad didn't have a fag.) So dreamy was my demeanour that I didn't hear him say 'May aah help y'@ll.?', at least not the 1st time. I... -

that a punk rock revival festival, scheduled for tomorrow, would provide a safe space for me. Also, the fact that I used Monopoly money and legged it, gave me a few hearty chuckles as I walked in a local park. 'Hahahahaha', 😃 laughing and pointing, came the comment from local youths passing by, while an old man nudged his wife and tutted.' At his age', she said, and laughed. I went into a cafe in the park, where, sat with a pot of tea, I read a book. My lentil pie with croutons and mashed sweet potato...... -

buying an alternative, 2nd lens, or trimming the Groucho. As it happened, though, I spotted a barber's shop named 'Hair today, gone tomorrow ', and in the window lay a poster with 'add colour and change your life. Talk to Rico today...', with a rainbow coloured pair of scissors with a smile plus a Groucho moustache. Captivated, I strolled in.... -
One thing that has totally puzzled me is, why the ridiculous amount of folk joining, who make an introductory post about ' What book is it where a man goes to China to begin a new life..?', and never write another word on BCF. Thousands..😃

five pm. By that time I had read 13 stories, browsed my phone , and written a letter to the local paper. All in all, I was having a particularly good time. 👍 On my travels, I spotted the Milwaukee Daily Herald, which headlined with 'Delilah Trumpton train death:man sought.' A flood of sweat streamed down my face and neck immediately, my immediate thought... -

stroll swiftly through the Milwaukee station, down the street, where I was soon happily occupied in a bookshop cafe, reading Jeffrey Archer while sipping hot tea. I began getting strange looks from other tea sippers, and I suddenly realised my funny specs....
