frankie Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I'm certain that he would have been OK. If his owner didn't come back, then the RSPCA could check his chip to see who he belonged to. I bet he is all cosied up at the foot of his owner's bed right now. I sincerely hope so, I get anxious even thinking about him! I watched Stranger than Fiction the whole way through for the first time, and I loved it.
frankie Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I just watched Koirankynnen leikkaaja, a Finnish movie about a war veteran who's disabled because he's been shot in the head. His co-worker starts telling him about his dog Sakke, and how he's got really long nails that sometimes hurt him, and the vet sets out to go to his house and clip the nails of the dog, without reporting he's going some place. A lot of things happen before he reaches the house, and it's another story what happens when he begins to perform the task of the nail clipping. Here's the dog:
chaliepud Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Is that a Norwegian Buhund frankie? They're pretty rare over here, even more so than the Cattle Dog..
frankie Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Is that a Norwegian Buhund frankie? They're pretty rare over here, even more so than the Cattle Dog.. No, she's a Finnish spitz. Remember when we talked about that breed some time ago? And Lapphunds.
chaliepud Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Ah I can see it now, at first glance I thought she was short coated but I can see the ruff now.. We do have a lady a couple of roads away that has one of the Finnish breeds but she speaks so little english and her male dog is even grumpier than Obi that we've never got closer than 30 metres! I'll keep a look out for the film, in case they ever do it with subtitles, my Finnish isn't too good
frankie Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Ah I can see it now, at first glance I thought she was short coated but I can see the ruff now.. We do have a lady a couple of roads away that has one of the Finnish breeds but she speaks so little english and her male dog is even grumpier than Obi that we've never got closer than 30 metres! Is she Finnish then, herself? That's sad about the grumpy dog, I wish they'd all get along. I bet this dog would like some new doggy friends! (when I was googling for pics of Finnish spitzes, this one caught my attention, so adorable!) I'll keep a look out for the film, in case they ever do it with subtitles, my Finnish isn't too good Hehe, good luck Although I think not that many Finnish movies are released outside Finland, or the Nordic countries... unfortunately! This morning I watched Namesake. I recorded the movie ages ago and was waiting to watch it after I've read the book, but now I just figured it'll take forever that way and why don't I just watch it. I liked it, it was okay, but I think I shall like the book better.
chaliepud Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Watched What's Your Number last night, it was a bit rude, actually very rude in parts, but very funny and appealed to my very low grade sense of humour, don't judge me people! Another bonus was that I got to ogle Chris Evans of Captain America fame (phwoar!!!) Well, Steve is away for long stretches!

Hehe, good luck Although I think not that many Finnish movies are released outside Finland, or the Nordic countries... unfortunately! Oh wow, that is cute! No, the lady is Japanese I think, and we try and be polite and bow, nod or wave to one another and smile pleasantly while our boys do their best to make us look like awful dog owners! I must get a pic of my fave local dog for you, a miniature Bull Terrier called Billy, we are besotted with one another and he has the most amazing temperament but sadly most people avoid him and even cross the road when he is desperate to say hello... I'll pop it on my thread when I next see him.. I could probably watch the film in Finnish, I'll just enjoy watching the doggy!
Kylie Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I watched Bridesmaids (excellent!) and From Russia with Love (very good).
vodkafan Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Cross Of Iron I watched Bridesmaids (excellent!) and From Russia with Love (very good). Hi Kylie if you liked Bridesmaids I recommend Friends With Kids by the same director.

Unfortunately they only show the dog for maybe 5-10 minutes, tops, throughout the movie I watched Revolutionary Road a few days ago and I watched Snow Angels last night.
Kylie Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Hi Kylie if you liked Bridesmaids I recommend Friends With Kids by the same director. Thanks VF! I'll definitely check it out.
Nollaig Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Rewatched Arthur Christmas last night! Excellent film!
chaliepud Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Bull terriers scare the krap out of me Unfortunately they only show the dog for maybe 5-10 minutes, tops, throughout the movie Billy couldn't scare anyone if he tried, he's only dangerous in that he gets sooo excited he sometimes forgets his strength and hits his hard head on my shins! I must look out some good doggy movies, so hard to find ones that aren't sad though!!
Chrissy Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 I ploughed my way through the eight Harry Potter films over the course of four days. I have never seen them all together like that and enjoyed watching the progression of the story from beginning to end. It may be a few years before i do something like that agian though - I'm a bit Pottered out now.
Tiger Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 My brother and I watched Nightmare Before Christmas the other night. I love this film so much!
dex Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I watched 7 Psychopaths, It wasn't what I was expecting.
Kylie Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I watched The Talented Mr Ripley. Not a bad adaptation.
Timstar Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Moonrise Kingdom, finally. Really good! Up to his usual standard, highly recommended, especially if you liked Royal Tenanbuams or his other films.
Ben Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Watched Midnight in Paris last night and thought it was utterly fantastic. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it more because it's about a writer going back and time and meeting other writers, but one of the best films I've watched in ages. Left wondering how I let this one slip me by. Edited December 11, 2012 by Ben
vodkafan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 i watched Jane Eyre on Sunday night I have almost got this out from blockbusters so many times but the appearance of Mr Rochester on the cover stopped me . He is supposed to be large and ugly and much senior in years to Jane Eyre. Is the film any good Laura? Watched Midnight in Paris last night and thought it was utterly fantastic. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it more because it's about a writer going back and time and meeting other writers, but one of the best films I've watched in ages. Left wondering how I let this one slip me by. Hey Ben you and I should go out. Unless you don't really look like your avatar in which case forget it.
Ben Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Hey Ben you and I should go out. Unless you don't really look like your avatar in which case forget it. Sorry to disappoint. Besides, unfortunately I have to keep Mila all to myself.
Nollaig Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I rewatched Love, Actually last night. Brilliant little film - sappy, yes, but also very feelgood. Well, mostly. Dunno why some people don't like it!
