Kylie Posted October 31, 2011 Share Posted October 31, 2011 There's been a few old horror flicks on TV in the last couple of days, so I've watched The Tenant (my first Roman Polanski!), and I rewatched The Day of the Triffids and the Night of the Living Dead (both awesome movies). There was another one as well, but it has escaped my mind for the moment. If I end up staying up late again, I might watch a Hitchcock or two. Watched them both last night and thought they were both pretty awesome (in particular, the first one blew me away, especially as it only cost $15,000 to make and raked in well over $100 million in return!). Despite its premise of time being the currency of exchange, it is easy to see parallels with our current system whereby money is used instead, with many veiled references to the corruption that we see today. I can't believe I didn't know about this movie before - it was bloomin' terrific and very, very funny. I remember seeing that a few years ago and enjoying it, Kylie. It looks like they're trying to 'modernize' their old fashioned 34-year old mother. We watched it today and it was allright. I didn't think I'd enjoy it to be honest, but it wasn't that bad. How is it that Greg Kinnear always plays the bad guy? I mean, wouldn't it be more of a challenge to cast him as a hero for once? Not that he doesn't do a great job. A new disease came, lots of people died, scientists developed a vaccine ..then it was the end. I was like "So?" Of course they developed a vaccine, that's what their job is. I don't think Toni Collete has ever acted better in any film she has made since. And the film has very poignant sad moments too. Strictly Ballroom is so funny too. Your topic of Australian movies reminds me of 'Almost Salinas'. Great movie. The topic made me curious enough to buy it and it was worth it. I will have to look that one up Sadya.
