The Library Nook
Hello all, How long does it normally take books to come through?
happyanddandy
I have waited a couple of months for at least
Loopyloo100
I've been chosen to receive Quiver by Peter Leonard this month!
happyanddandy
I didn't get anything this time but still awaiting one from last time
Kate
I am yet to be chosen to be an Early Reviewer
Michelle
I've only had one book Kate. The trouble is that there are never that many UK books, plus SO many request them! You're better off being a reviewer here, anyway!
Lilywhite
I've been chosen to receive Quiver by Peter Leonard this month! Me too! I'm quite looking forward to this one
Kylie
There are only ever 1 or 2 available to Australia, and sometimes none from what I've seen. I've only tried once to get a book and wasn't successful.
Loopyloo100
Do any of you have to ensure that the book shown in your librarything (shelfari or goodreads) catalogue has to have the same cover as the book you actually own? Or is that just me?
Michelle
Yep, it has to be the right one!
Lilywhite
Me too, I get quite upset if they don't have quite the right cover
Chimera
Same here... It just doesnt feel right if it's another cover, as if it were another book *laughs*
Loopyloo100
I've had to upload them sometimes, but it certainly is nice to see the library as you own it. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Ruth
Do any of you have to ensure that the book shown in your librarything (shelfari or goodreads) catalogue has to have the same cover as the book you actually own? Or is that just me? On LibraryThing, I always make sure that the cover in my collection is the cover that I have. I don't mind so much on GoodReads though. Ceinwenn
Oh no, I definately need to make sure that all of the covers match what they were when I read the book! I have a question about librarything - I don't see anywhere where it specifies whether the lifetime membership price you pay is an one-off or an anual thing. Anyone know? Chimera
Actually it's weird how much the cover can stick with you overtime... I've been looking for books I read when I was a kid on goodreads (trying to remember all my old favorites) and eventhough I've lost/ given/ sold them long ago I recognised most of the covers (or didnt and felt the ones I found weren't 'right')
Michelle
I have a question about librarything - I don't see anywhere where it specifies whether the lifetime membership price you pay is an one-off or an anual thing. Anyone know? As there's a yearly membership and a lifetime one, I assume that the latter is a one off payment. They suggest $10 for yearly and $25 for lifetime, so no one is going to pay the higher amount if it's annual.
Echo
I paid $25 for a lifetime membership, and I'm really glad I did! And, yes, I always make sure that my covers match the edition I actually have.
phoenix
It's the same with me. I also try to find the real covers I have at home at library thing
Charm
I spend ages when I'm adding books to my library thing making sure the book covers match the actual book I read. Most of them in my library do, but there is the odd one which I had to pick the cover closest to mine... doesnt feel right!
Nici
I simply HAVE to have the same covers!
supergran71
If I can't find the right cover I usually scan the one I have and then up load it.
Chimera
God we're a bunch of book maniacs aren't we ?? *cracks up*
Ceinwenn
If I can't find the right cover I usually scan the one I have and then up load it. oooh, I wish I could do that! There have been a couple that I have had to "settle for the closest" & 1 where there isn't a cover to be found, so that ability would come in so handy! Loopyloo100
You could always take a photo with camera/phone too and upload that, although the results may be better sometimes than others. It always helps if you are handy with a paint package like paint shop pro to get it looking just right - and that can come in handy with scanning too.
