Johnny Carson Whit
Yeah, and it got on my nerves:irked:. This was my first EVER attempt to watch soccer (football). I couldnt get use to the buzzing sound. Dont judge the sport on that France game, it was a really boring rubbish game. There will be much more entertainment in future games. Michelle
The buzzing is really annoying - I can't imagine what it must be like to be in the middle of it!

Rawr
Heinze scored a great goal, I think Argentina deserved to win that, played well in places but definitely should have took chances. A better team would have carved them open at the back.
Mac
I'm afraid this isn't really a thread I'll be visiting much - I don't get the football thing. Sorry. I was appalling at the sport (read: all sport) at school. I haven't got a very competitive nature so, when in possession of a ball and someone comes to try to take it off me I was all "Hi. Do you want this? Here you go. Happy days! Enjoy yourself..." much to the dismay of my fellow team mates. And, probably because of the non-competitiveness thing, I don't understand the pub/water-cooler thing of "We played really well last night. Especially when we stuck those two thingies past the do-dah into the whatsit." I get it if it's my friend Lauren talking about how well she and her team have played in a hockey match, but not when it's someone who's seen it on a television. I'm a dunce. A dunce, I tell you! I wish I could join in with it, sometimes...
Coffin Nail
I'm not an avid footie fan, but I get into the World Cup comp. I think it's the anticipation, the hope and ultimately the drama. The possibility that during my lifetime, I'll see the boys win instead of going out on penalties. Come on England! Give it some welly!!!!!!!! Mac
I think they wear specialised footwear as opposed to Wellington boots, but I could be wrong. I'm terribly ill informed about these things...

Mac
Plimpsolls! Excellent memory jog! Did you have to wear those ridiculous shorts, too? If we forgot our kit, we'd have to do it in our Knick-knocks and vest, the dirty ******s!

I never forgot my kit, it was left festering in a pump bag my nana made from old curtains, until the end of term.

Coffin Nail
Forgive us footie fans for hijacking your lovely thread with talk of plimpsolls and curtains. It was Mac's fault. He started it.

AbielleRose
First off, this game is not going well for the US so far. Hopefully our boys can step it up. Secondly, what is with this Heskey guy?!?!?!

Chrissy
I have shouted at the screen, called out some rude names, pleaded, laughed and gasped ~ this is great for my stress. You gotta love a good match.
Coffin Nail
ITV HD coverage is PANTS! They cut to an accidental ad break before England's goal. The horns are really bad. You can't hear the crowd chanting or the lads playing the Great Escape theme. Shame.
Vanwa
Ah, Abby. In England, all our players are either the equivalent of ballet dancers or complete powerhouses. Let's hope Rooney's in a good mood 2nd half, he really can be dangerous. He could plough through a solid brick wall. Bloody Green on the other hand... the play by the States was fast and furious for that ball, the save by Green was brilliantly engineered, only to completely fluff it up by letting the ball go. The idea is to hold on to it deary... Stevie G, Terry, and Wright-Phillips are doing their stuff. But most of the rest of the team need to step it up. My Frankie needs to get more involved in the ball play. I know he's got the skill, but so far it's not coming through. C'mon boys. Give it some wellie. Johnny Carson Whit
Baffles me how the media seem to be dismissing the USA as a third rate team, when most of their players play in the premier league and the other half play for top teams across Europe.
AbielleRose
Rooney's a beast, Vanwa. If there is anything I've learned from watching the Premier League games its that the Brits are fierce competitors. They do not like to lose. That is a very excellent point, JCW. The guy who scored the US goal, Clint Dempsey, plays for Fulham. Landon Donovan, the greatest US player of our generation was on loan for Everton. It seems like all of our best guys have experince as teammates for your guys. The MLS in the US is definitely not as good as the European leagues, but our team has experience all over.
