Stephen King

I went through a period of reading loads of kings books, I love his books of short stories and I thought Misery and insomnia were brilliant.

 

I also liked the Dark Tower novels, although i have only read the first couple. I think they tie into most of his other books.

Yeah the Dark Tower series does tie heavily into his main body of works, it's a fantastic series, i've read it through twice, it does take a lot of patience, but once you're into it, it's enthralling for sure.

Stephen King is by far my favourite author. I haven't read everything by him yet, but have read most of what people would consider his classics, such as The Stand, The Shining, It, etc.

 

My favourite book by him are The Dark Tower Series.

I've been chatting on The Stand's thread about the schmaltzy dialogue between Stu and Fran being an area that lets King down. I've really loved some of his books, but equally thought that some were complete turkeys.

 

I thought The Stand and The Shining were magnificent novels, though.

i'm a huge fan of horror and as a devoted fan I always felt that I should atleast attempt to read some of King's work (since he has such a huge following) yet, each time i picked up one of his works in the library I found myself bored after the first few pages!!!

Well the one I am reading is a novel of maybe 400+ pages, maybe the one in your book is a short different version? Not sure myself, does anyone else know?

Right.......oh it's called Jerusalem's Lot and is a mere 21 pages long.

Oh right Salems lot is called Jerusalems lot in Salems lot too, it must be connected.

Salem is short for Jerusalem.

 

I must look up this short story, I'd be interested in reading it if it's connected.

The story 'Jerusalem's Lot' is one of the stories in 'Night Shift' (one of my favourite collection of stories).

 

Not giving to much away, the story is basically the prequel to 'Salem's Lot' and a lot of what happens in it, is shown in some way in 'Salem's Lot'. There is a bit of HP Lovecraft vibe in 'Jerusalem's Lot' too, which I enjoyed, its a great story.

I'm not borrowing any books, I still have poor Gyre's copy of The Fetch due to mojo loss (If you want that back at any time Gyre just say so, I've already had it for way too long. I'm nearly finished it.)
