I have about 50 pages left of Tempted by PC and Kristin Cast, having already finished Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris. Next up for me is the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks :exc: Quite a shift in genre :tong:

A good bookday for me. I didn't manage to get Faithless by Karin Slaughter from the library since someone had already borrowed it after last night when it was still available. Well I'm gonna make a reservation for it and get it later :exc: Otherwise better luck, I took my copy of Sleepyhead by Mark Billingham to the library's free book exchange shelf and got John Kennedy Toole's A Confederacy of Dunces in return!! (In Finnish though, which was a bit of a disappointment but good enough!)

Also borrowed some interesting reads about Africa and the dear old 70s, and Noam Chomsky and Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries.

Awesome about the Chomsky! Which book by Chomsky? I have read a few but not merely enough.

shame about faithless, but I am sure the reader will finish it quickly!

What did you think about Touch of Dead? Was it one of her better ones?

It wasn't that good to be honest. It was just a collection of short stories that take place throughout the Sookie series but there was nothing new in them so I got a bit bored.

I cannot find two books I am wanting to read. One is the 4th in a series, and the other the first of a series. :tong:

So I have just ordered replacement second hand copies, as I was getting more and more irked about it - peace of mind for less than

:tong: I'm sorry about your mojo, Charm! Annoyances like that should be few and far between. I hope it comes back swiftly!.

Thanks peacefield :friends0:Me too, it's funny how losing your mojo can really get you down :(

I managed to only squeeze in a couple of pages from Stolen last night before falling asleep. Hopefully I'll get more in since my friend has just lent me Brown's The Lost Symbol and I'm anxious to read it and get it back to her.

Hope you enjoy The Lost Symbol, I quite fancy it too :exc:

Bought Anna McPartlin's "So What If I'm Broken?" her fourth and latest novel, inspired by the songs and her memories of Jack Lukeman. I'm 70 pages in, and unsurprisingly loving it.

I reviewed her first novel a few months back for our reviews page and loved it, despite not being a chick lit fan. As I adore Jack L too I absolutely had to have this book.

I have just bought The Gift by Cecelia Ahern (I've been waiting to read this :tong:) and The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver today for

I finished Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk last night (brilliant) and have started The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I'm almost 60 pages in and loving it so far!

Although I can't put my finger on how they translated Tollbooth into Italian, I'm pretty sure this used to be a favourite of mine as a child... must get hold of a copy; glad you're enjoying it Kylie.

I actually thought of you as I was reading it, Giulia. :exc: It's a lovely fantasy world and Milo is currently in Dictionopolis, where you can buy words and letters at the markets. Great! :tong:

You have just turned my pretty sureness to certainty. 'Il Casello Magico' they called it, and it was fantabulous :tong: glad you're enjoying it, it really is a lovely book.

Read The First Person by Ali Smith today. My continuing excursions into the world of short stories resulted in a wonderfully satisfying read of this collection by an author I already love for her novels. A great reading day :tong:

I'm now 140 pages into my new Anna McPartlin book. Still loving it. Probably going to be up half the night trying to get it finished.

Halfway through Biblioholism: The Literary Addiction; though my feelings are by this point extremely mixed, I can't seem to put the thing down, which (for a so-called reader who's only read three full books this year) is pretty good going - never mind that the thing is only 163 pages long.

I borrowed Media Control but I think I'll be borrowing more of his books later, a friend recommended them. I've known Chomsky's work as a linguist but I didn't know he'd written books on other themes as well until my friend told me a couple of weeks ago. Which books by Chomsky have you read yourself and which would you recommend? :tong:

I have read a few by Chomsky both later and earlier works.

The most popular recent book by him would be Hegemony or Survival? America's quest for dominance. The title explains it all. Very easy to read and very inlightening. Also Interventions is another good one. Manufactuering Consent is also another good one. Oh I could be here all day :tong: I absolutely love Chomsky. If you read the book and want more of that sort of book please let me know and I can give you other authors in the same vain and influenced by Chomsky and other books relating to the subjects that he covers.

134 pages into Dead to the World, and the page I am on is very Interesting :exc: but before that I will be honest I was getting a little bored and could not seem to get my concentration :(

I fell in love with the (Sshhh *whispers* mcdonalds) advert that used the song "Busy Doing Nothing" from the film 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court', and subsequently bought the film, and the book by Mark Twain.

The book looks great and I look forward to reading it. :tong:
