Rawr Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I have read Bravo Two Zero, i thought it was very interesting. Today i have read a couple more chapters of my treasured illustrated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Dimitra Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I started Cat on a Hot Tin Roof earlier this morning.
chesilbeach Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Just read The Best of Times by Michael Morpurgo. Lovely Chrimstas fairy tale.
Nicola Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I'm going to have breakfast and read a few pages of Memnoch the Devil until noon (ish) before writing up an essay summary.
page turner Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I'm about 100 pages into The court of the air by Stephen Hunt and I'm loving it so far. I like the fact that he doesn't go into major detail about things - it's like he assumes you know what he's on about and gets on with it - it makes a lovely change. I also spent last week re-reading The Tomorrow series by John Marsden and I'm so glad I did - it's still one of the best series I've ever read
northernnutter Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Finished two books in the lst few days..The Eyre Affair, (Loved it!) and Darkly Dreaming Dexter. (A bit disappointed.) Also bought two books by John Connelly. The Black Angel (starting this today), and Nocturnes.
Lucybird Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Not read anything yet, but my Secret Santa gift came, and I'm about to order mine for my giftee
Kate Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I've been reading The Flowing Queen today and my Mum gave my Shadow Baby by Margaret Forster
Stephanie2008 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I got my secret santa today too but I'm not opening it yet I am a nearly finished Generation Kill then I'll be having a break for a few days while I get my uni work done
Sheeta Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I've read... eight pages of Sepulchre by Kate Mosse. Didn't have the time to do better. >< I'm also reading all the threads I can, because I really have to do my Christmas list (that means: all the books I will have to spend all my money for in London, cause the books are reaaaally cheaper xD). I also read the summary of the latest Dan Brown, but this book is for my mother, I don't think it's my style.
Lucybird Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Well I didn't order that present, I seem to have lost my card But I have read some more of The Lucifer Effect now.
Nollaig Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Finished Eclipse. Cried a bit, died a little inside - the usual associated with Twilight books. On to Breaking Dawn! How I'm going to navigate this monstrosity without breaking the spine, I do not know. Suggestions on a postcard, to the usual address.
Chrissy Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 POSTCARD! Why not use a book periscope. You can just slip the slender periscope between the pages and persuse at you leisure! (I may have to patent this idea) Go on girl - crack that spine, or borrow a copy from the library that you won't worry about.
ned Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Get the book X-Rayed and then you dont have to open it
Nollaig Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Hahaha what fantastic ideas all! Chrissy I REFUSE to break spines, that's the one thing I'm very uppity about when it comes to books. I'm 70 pages in and just being very, very careful
Stephanie2008 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 That's the reason I don't lend people my books, they always come back creased
Nightwish Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 The fantastic reason behind my signature choice.
Peacefield Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Come on, Noll, it's BD! It deserves to be cracked . I've read 2 dismal chapters of Lost Symbol this weekend. I just hate sitting reading when I'm surrounded by boxes. My urge to organize and put away is greater than this book, I'm afraid.
Nollaig Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 It deserves to be burned, Marcia. But it's a pretty book and I'll look after it accordingly. I'm 133 pages in, and Jacob's section is about to begin.
lexiepiper Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I finished Dead To The World and now starting Dead As A Doornail DAAD will be my 118th book, so it's looking very likely that I'll hit my 125 target
Kylie Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I finished They Shoot Horses, Don't They? by Horace McCoy, and I've started The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark. I'm having a little trouble concentrating because I'm sick and feeling groggy from medicine, but I'm getting there!
catwoman Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Only read 95 pages of Mr Darcy Vampyre. I am slowly getting through it, not had much time to read it. So far it is Ok. A little boring for me so far though, but I think it's becuase 1) I was expecting a little more vampire going ons to exist, and 2) Elizabeth is not how I remember her originally. But we shall see. I was expecting loads from this book, so I hope it delivers at some point. If not I think my mojo may dissapear.. Nooooooooo
Katrina1968 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Simple, The Bible and Outlander. I really should have read more than I did yesterday but I was godawful lazy:mrgreen:
Nollaig Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 300 pages into Breaking Dawn and - disturbingly - I'm enjoying it immensely. I suspect my newfound werewolf appreciation is helping with that. But I'm starting to worry now that I'm going to end up LIKING the ending. I'm doomed.
