Peacefield Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 This isn't really a 'baked good,' but I love the Middle Eastern food smell that my mom and grandma used to make (my mom still does). It reminds me SO much of growing up and I have such strong memories of going to my grandma's and seeing her sitting at the table whipping up something good and smelling that aroma. Even now when I go to the Middle Eastern deli downtown and pass by the kitchen door on the sidewalk it takes me back and almost brings tears to my eyes .
Ernie Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 The smell of tablet being made for Halloween . I'm off to hunt out my muffin recipes.
blithe Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I love the smell of homemade soup - chicken noodle, creamy garden veggie etc. Homemade stew smells quite nice too.
BookJumper Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I'll be sticking some stuffed chicken in the oven tonight, with curried pepper & mushroom rice and a few slices of halloumi on the side.
Vanwa Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I is jealous. It probably doesn't help that I've let my blood sugar take a dive to the point where I have the shakes and I'm trying not to chew my foot whilst I wait for everyone to get home
Vanwa Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Spaghetti bolognese With proper spaghetti and everything??? Me wants.
Stephanie2008 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 With proper spaghetti and everything??? Me wants. What do you mean proper spaghetti? You would be welcome to have some - I always make too much
Vanwa Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Some people cheat and use pasta shapes so they don't make a mess. Shall I send a taxi over?
BookJumper Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Some people cheat and use pasta shapes so they don't make a mess.Alternatively, they use knife and fork and actually cute the spaghetti up so as to avoid the tricky fork twirling... .
Stephanie2008 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I always have spaghetti and always do the fork twirling. I just make sure I'm not in my good clothes
Maureen Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I would think twirling spaghetti on a fork is much easier than trying to eat cut up spaghetti?
SueB Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Just waiting for OH to bring in Chinese Takeaway
Lucybird Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Fish with parsley and garlic sauce. Never had it before but it sounds good.
Rawr Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I'm having chips and gravy as i'm not too hungry and am off to bed soon (:
~Andrea~ Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 We had burgers with home made potato wedges, rocket salad and coleslaw. Still using up our millions of sausages and burgers left over from our bbq in August
BookJumper Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 TAKEOUT!!, as there is precious little left in the house. We'll be having soft noodles with garlic & ginger prawns and pork steamed dumplings nom nom nom. After, peanut butter cookies & coffee. If I can be bothered baking, that is.
Peacefield Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Salad for me again with all the fixings. I think they need to develop a hybrid spinach that lasts more than a week so I have time to eat it all and get my money's worth!
Echo Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Marinated tenderloin steaks and mashed potatoes.
blithe Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Tomato soup with toasted cheese sandwiches.
Rawr Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I had chips and chicken pieces, with too much gravy and the chips were burnt, so kind of rubbish!
NovaLee Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I had chips and chicken pieces, with too much gravy and the chips were burnt, so kind of rubbish! Rawr ....I'm sorry to hear that. Hope it's better tomorrow. It was homemade soup over here tonight with buns and brownies for dessert.
Chrissy Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 We had a surprise meal yesterday! Had turned up to visit b-i-l and his partner to see their new kitchen and while we chatted, his partner made a fabulous Iranian chicken dish with rice and tomatoes. Delicious.
