Rawr Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Die Hard On my parents widescreen, with booming surround sound at 3am on christmas eve. EPIC!!
Mexicola Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Brad Pitt makes that film! I thought Christoph Waltz made the film, he was awesome as Colonel Landa. I started to watch that new Star Trek film last night but had to abandon it about halfway through because I was so terrifically bored. I had a funny feeling I wasn't going to enjoy it but OH got it on BluRay for Christmas so thought I'd better give it a try.
AbielleRose Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 The Reduced Shakespeare Company: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged Absolutely brilliant! I laughed through the whole thing!
BookJumper Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 The Reduced Shakespeare Company: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare AbridgedJealous DO WANT ! I saw Mamma Mia! (good film, although I fail to see quite how it's "feel-good", I found it quite angsty - is it just me?) and Star Trek (again...) last night.
AbielleRose Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Jealous DO WANT !QUOTE] Don't you just love Adam? 'So why don't you just take away my birthday?'
BookJumper Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I haven't actually *shock horror* seen it yet! I've heard the reduced Romeo & Juliet for radio, been intending to hear more ever since but haven't got round to it yet *hangs head in shame*.
AbielleRose Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Oh! You will love it! They are just pure entertainment from beginning till end. My favorites are Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.
jenmck Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 "Julie and Julia". My favorite line? "What does it say about me that I hate my friends?" LOL.
rachel kay Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Just watched Twilight with my step-daughter and now she's begging me to take her to the cinema tomorrow to see New Moon
BookJumper Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, it was genius. I'll have to watch it again to be sure, but I think I might even like it more than Nightmare Before Christmas.
Stephanie2008 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I love Corpse Bride I haven't seen that for ages though, due a rewatch I think
rachel kay Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Today the kids made me watch Hairspray for the hundredth time.
BookJumper Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 But Hairspray is GOOD! Man, I wish I'd been able to see that at the theatre when Michael Ball was playing Edna - but alas, ticket prices were prohibitive . I just finished watching Igor, and it was even better than expected. Cuuute. And yes, I cried.
Rawr Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I like Corpse Bride, a very poignant film in a lot of strange ways, but i do much prefer Nightmare
Stephanie2008 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Henry VIII with Ray Winstone. I'm about half way through at the moment
ned Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Henry VIII with Ray Winstone. I'm about half way through at the moment That is excellent
Stephanie2008 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Yeah I'm really impressed with it. I've seen quite a few dramas of Henry VIII and I think Ray Winstone is exactly how I picture Henry to be.
BookJumper Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I like Corpse Bride, a very poignant film in a lot of strange ways, but i do much prefer NightmareAdmittedly, Nightmare's songs are much better - first of all, because it is possible to sing along with them; What's This? is officially my favourite Christmas song for instance, I can put it on repeat for ages and just sing along to it until my head spins - however I loved the story of Corpse Bride and how it was realised that tiny bit more... I think. As I said, I need to watch it again to be sure; it's gonna be close.
Rawr Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Yes, i need to watch them both again. I liked each song in Nightmare, they were very relevant and each had a purpose of advancing or giving something more to their segments. In Corpse Bride a couple just seem out of place or going nowhere. The 'What's This?' song in tandem with that scene progression is fantastic and unforgettable, you can recall it endlessly
