Bronwen
Watch this. This annoying woman has found a way to peel potatoes without using a potato peeler. I think it's wrong, a waste of water and generally for someone with far too much time on their hands But what do you think? Ingenius or just plain insane? Nollaig
Haha, I think it's quite amusing actually. Wouldn't bother doing it, but still.
Weave
She is very enthusiastic but I would just buy a potato peeler
Cadenza
Who has time to think of these things? Won't be trying it, but still - genius!
Angel
Much quicker with a peeler - couldn't be doing with all that faffing around
lexiepiper
Haha that's pretty cool! I rarely boil potatoes though, so would be pointless
Nollaig
I actually always boil potatoes. This might work out quicker for me. I'll give it a go
Inver
How sad is that...poor woman....lol
Rawr
Lmao, the 'normal' way it takes me about half an hour to peel three potatoes, i am getting faster though!
Nollaig
Lmao, the 'normal' way it takes me about half an hour to peel three potatoes, i am getting faster though! Yeah I think this kinda thing could work wonders for you and I!
Chrissy
My brain hurts....why didn't the strange lady just peel the potato? Instead of peeling the bl**dy thing she boiled water, made ice, and appeared to initiate a rather uncomfortable relationship with her Idaho spud! BattyOldMaid
Utter tosh! Think about it, to make a potato salad, boil the potato, put it in ice water, peel the skins off, put the cooled potato back on the boil until soft. Way too much time wasted, be far quicker to peel the potatoes with the knife or peeler. Batty
Bronwen
So it's not just me then! Kind of cool that potatoes do that, though
Talisman
Personally I never bother with peeling spuds - I just wash the dirt off and cook them in their skins - that's the tastiest and most nutritious part. Then again, it could be that I am just lazy !
Chimera
My brain hurts....why didn't the strange lady just peel the potato? Instead of peeling the bl**dy thing she boiled water, made ice, and appeared to initiate a rather uncomfortable relationship with her Idaho spud! My thoughts exactly! Bronwen
I need to go and peel some potatoes now
Stephanie2008
The sound isn't great on my computer so why could she not use the peeler? It seems like a long way to peel a few spuds (although I was surprised at how well they peeled off).
Genevieve
Oh brother. Chrissy, you have made me laugh and now I feel exhausted. ohlala you are funny. Perhaps this woman was made to become an inventor but never I am thinking pushed her brain cells beyond grade three. I don't like to peel the potato since it robs us of all the vitamins. But when I do, I peel them thickly and then mashe the potatoe after boiling of course. The skins I rub with a little lemon juice and put into container. Then keep a few days and then I rub with olive oil, bake in oven and then grate three cheeses on top and add salt. Voila, wonderful and I make a nice dip for them. Lucybird
why didn't she just use the peeler, so much simpler
Genevieve
fancy nails, oui, that must be it. But how funny the things people think of. Mortals are all wierd, all of us, don't you think. Me I am perfectionist but when little I hated, why I don't remember, to bend down to pick up things. Papa would say you pick up everything and so I perfected using my toes to pick up all. He would shake his head and think I am mad and get annoyed oui, but I was doing what he said.
Raven
I wonder if that would work with oranges?
Nollaig
Well considering that's pretty much how I cook my potatoes, I think this is pretty neat. Saves the few minutes in advance peeling everything.
sirinrob
Have used a similar method occasionally - depends on how I'm using the potato
pontalba
I wouldn't peel a baking potato in any case. If the skin is scrubbed well, it's quite edible and tastes pretty good. I don't quite understand why anyone would take the skin off of one of those. She calls them Idaho potatoes, but that's a brand name. My mother and Aunt always called them Irish potatoes. For the red potatoes, I cut them into quarters [or so] boil them, and remove the skins and mash.
