lexiepiper Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Turkey twizzlers and mash were my teen addicted foods of choice Quote
Nollaig Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I've done it! I've perfected my sandwich! I was using a honey dijon sauce as most of you probably know by now with the chicken and using it as a deli-style thing, to put in sandwiches. Today I made stuffing with red, rather than white, onion, and the sweetness of the red onions (simmered first in butter) really draws out the sweetness of the honey and makes the whole thing glorious! Rawr Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 More of that sauce?! I aboslutely love stuffing, though i have never tried to actually make it. I just use the ready made type but add some butter until it's nice. I prepare it more as an afterthought to accompany meals though. Quote
Nici Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Well done Roxi! You clever thing you! :) Quote

Chimera Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I've done it! I've perfected my sandwich! That line drips with such a sense of achievement! Well done Roxi! Quote
Nollaig Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I'm not saying it's good! I'm just saying I've made it exactly how *I* want. But I like ketchup, so what do I know? Quote
Charm Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I've done it! I've perfected my sandwich! Well done Roxi Good fer you! Quote
Ceinwenn Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm not saying it's good! I'm just saying I've made it exactly how *I* want. But I like ketchup, so what do I know? According to my OH - a lot! He eats it with just about everything I cook (either that or salad cream!) bloody annoying, it is! You could look at it this way, though, with all the lycopene you're getting from the Ketchup you're unlikely to get prostate cancer! Quote
Lucybird Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 The boyfriend claims I eat more ketchup that chips when I eat chips. But it is the only thing I eat ketchup with Quote
Charm Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 According to my OH - a lot! He eats it with just about everything I cook (either that or salad cream!) bloody annoying, it is! My Oh does the same thing with HP sauce! You could look at it this way, though, with all the lycopene you're getting from the Ketchup you're unlikely to get prostate cancer! I bet this makes you feel better Roxi! I know who to go to now Ceinwenn if I ever need a good twist on something! Quote
Nollaig Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Well, given the amount of other **** I eat, trust me, ketchup is nearly healthy. Quote
Nollaig Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Since this is my little food thread (I should have made this my Member's thread!) I'm going to announce here that I've perfected making a honey sauce that isn't out of a jar! (Before, I was slightly editing a pre-made honey sauce and adding it to chicken.) Today I invested in cheap dijon mustard, mayo and honey to see if I couldn't make a half decent sauce from scratch, and I managed it! It works out about a third the price per week that the last sauce did too, which is great. This cooking thing could catch on Quote

Nollaig Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Well, I have this aversion to my own cooking - I will ALWAYS like something else more if it's bought in a shop or made by somebody else. Usually I'm put off what I cook simply because I cooked it. But since I'm following basic recipes and then improvising to taste, I don't mind so much it seems Quote

Perfect Morning-After Voice and I have long tried to figure out when a sandwich is ALWAYS better when someone else makes it, even if it's the very same sandwich, made exactly the same way! It's so weird. Quote
