Kell Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I finished my bookmark for the stitch-along. See HERE. Quote
Kell Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I'm back to stitching Charlie's Falling Star for the next week or so. Tonight I finished the window frame and sill on the lower right side and I've started stitching te wall at the lower right side too. Quote
Inver Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I finished my bookmark for the stitch-along. See HERE. So have I . You can see mine in this piccie Quote
Kell Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Here's tonight's update on Charlie's Falling Star. Not a huge amount done, but I've finished the wall at the right hand side and have started on the bottom left... Quote
Inver Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Kell that is going to look so sweet. I managed to find my aida after nearly disappearing into 'the cupboard'. So I have been flicking through some mags trying to find my next bokmark project. Think I know what I want to do. Just have to choose the colours now. Quote
nightingale Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hey, everyone's completed efforts are looking great . I'm still waiting for my kit to be delivered. Inver, yours looks fab, have you encased it in a plastic sleeve? Must say, the cross-stitch castle in your album looks really good. If my 1st attempt at making a bookmark goes well, i'd like to try something like that . Quote
Kell Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Finished stitching the left-hand wall tonight. Tomorrow I'll continue along the top and then move onto the rest of the rainbow from the shooting star... Quote
Kate Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 It's looking good Kell. Do people prefer frames or table/lap holders when stitching? I'm considering getting a lap holder but don't know if its worth it? Quote
Kell Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I use a variety of hoops and a snap frame, but I'm considering getting a lap scroller for larger projects as I'm starting to gravitate towards slightly larger projects now that I'm gaining some confidence. Perhaps I'll get one for my birthday or for Xmas - LOL! Quote
Kate Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I might just bite the bullet and get a lap scroller.... Here is the update on the cottage piece my hubby bought me: Quote
Kell Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Looking good, Kate! Are you stitching it in tent stitch? Quote
Kate Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Yeah. It seems there is a fair chunk of it that is done in tent stitch. I think the cottage and bridge will be in cross stitch though Quote
Kell Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Ah, I see - it gives a nice sense of depth to have the background in tent and the foreground in cross. Quote
Kell Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Here's Charlie as of tonight - I've finished all the wall bits and am almost finished the falling star's rainbow, so tomorrow night I'll finish off that bit and then I can start bringing Charlie himself to life! I am SO excited about seeing him appear! Quote
Inver Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Kate that looks lovely, I like the colours in the project. Quote
Kell Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I've finished the shooting star's tail and the rainbow at the bottom left now. And that's where I shall have to leave Charlie till next month... Quote
Kell Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I'm now starting a week or so of card making. From now till the end of the month I'll be stitching a Valentine's card, a Xmas card (yes, I'm getting started early by doing one each month!) and a winter-themed ATC for a swap on a stitching forum. I've started stitching my ATC - I'm using perforated paper for a change and will use another piece of the same to stitch my details on the back. I've never done an ATC before, so this is quite exciting for me! Quote
Kell Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Design: From World of Cross Stitching Magazine by Ursula Michael Materials: White 14-count perforated paper; DMC Blanc, 107, 597 and 4220; silver beads (from a broken necklace); white snowflake button; silver snowflake charm; white and turquoise cardboard snowflake button I've never stitched an ATC before, so I was rather excited when The Cross Stitch Forum decided on a winter-themed ATC swap. I quickly settled on using perforated paper for this project and chose a small design from World of Cross Stitching Magazine (from just before Christmas). After stitching the design, I chose to add various buttons, charms and beads to personalise it a little more. Then I stitched the details onto another piece of perforated paper to affix to the reverse and slid a piece of ice-blue coloured card in between them to "plug" the holes. I opted to blanket stitch the two pieces together et voila! Front: Back: Quote
Kell Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Thanks, Lexie. I hope the person who receives it likes it! Quote
Kell Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 The colours are so pretty, Kate. And you're making great progress on it. I'm busy working on cards this week - a Xmas one (yes, I'm getting a head start!), a Mothers' Day one and a Valentine's Day one. Quote
Kell Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) I'm very early this year, but I've just finished stitching a Mothers' Day card for my Mam (in the UK it'll be 14th March this year). It's two pieces of brown perforated paper, which I backed with some mottled brown card and then blanket stitched the left-hand edges together. I took the halos off the design as my Mam (and. indeed, my whole family) is completely non-religious, and I also stitched the message inside. The pattern is stitched in Anchor 1302 (a creamy variegated floss) and the message inside is stitched in DMC 3770. Edited January 28, 2010 by Kell Quote
