Raven
Could you pass the 11-plus? Blow me! I got 10/15 in the first ten minutes, and went up to 14/15 in the next ten, but one question - due to some silly faulty maths on my part - stumped me. How will you do?! Guest ii
15/15 on my first go.
Raven
Well done! I think I spent far too long on the question I screwed up on. I got one sum wrong, was convinced it was right, and then spent the next fifteen minutes not being able to see any link between the two examples to work out the third correctly . . . Guest ii
Thank you. Does that mean I could get into grammar school now? *laughs*
Raven
I think you get to go straight to college!
Guest ii
Oh wow! I'm feeling super-smart now. *cracks up* Well, I have to say that with my educational history, anything but 15/15 would have been a failure... Story of my life, really, but that's another tale for another time...
Loopyloo100
I went to a grammar school but didn't have to pass the 11 plus to get there. I did pass this test though with 15/15 in 5 minutes so I impressed myself!

Bemii
I got 14/15... Went to a grammar school until two years ago, they are not all they are made out to be!
Michelle
Some are worth it.. our local grammar gets excellent Ofsted reports.
Bemii
My old one did too, but so does my new school. I think I'm just the odd one out who really disliked it! Everyone else seems to like them...
Mia
15/15, but I really had to think hard about some of them and I only had about a minute left! I thought they were pretty tough for 11-year-olds.
Weevilcharley
ten out of fifteen. I never was good at maths!!
Michelle
Well, we've just been through the 11+, and it is pretty difficult. They've changed the scedule, so it's taken earlier in the year, so many are only 10. Add to that the fact that there are some questions within the maths paper that the schools don't cover until after the exam is taken, and you can see what a struggle it can be! In fact, my friend's husband was looking at Beth's practice papers, and he found them quite tough.. and he has a Masters in Maths from Oxford! Nollaig
I got 9 out of 15, and I guessed half of them after 6 minutes coz I just couldn't be bothered.
lexiepiper
I got 12, not bad considering I was never a fan of maths :eek2:
BookJumper
In fact, my friend's husband was looking at Beth's practice papers, and he found them quite tough.. and he has a Masters in Maths from Oxford!I remember helping my cousin revise for her 11+ a few years ago and I too found some of the questions (not to mention the time one was meant to answer them in) tough. Tried this now and got 7/15, unsurprising really, must have got all the language ones right and all the maths ones wrong :eek2:!
Michelle
The timing issue does make it even worse - we actually had to teach Beth how to speed up, because she's more of a careful worker.

Ben
15/15 after 7 minutes. :eek2:
NightOwl
14/15. I enjoyed grammar school in the 70's (there, that's given my age away!) probably because of the great teaching staff we had. But then I loved school from day one anyway.
maisy
15/15 but I have just seen my 2 children through it so I guess I've had a bit of practise.
Univerze
14/15 in 7,5 minutes.. got a little distracted on language, since English isn't my native language. The one mistake I made was just plain stupid, I didn't quite look right at the words hee hee. Sloppy. And I just looked up what grammar school was since I had no clue. Sorta like secondary school with latin, ancient greek and lots of science? I've done that, had one year of ancient greek before I dropped it, not very interesting, and I have had a few years of lessons in latin. Kimmy619
11/15 - my maths let me down. I think that I am too impatient to think about it logically.
