lopeanha
These are my bookshelves On top are my cookery books from left to right and a few other non-fiction books. Next book-row from left to right are crime and thriller, sorted by author. Then it's fantasy. Then chick-lit and other novels. And on the bottom are childrens books and bookcrossing. I have most my books at my parents' and in boxes... but these are the ones on display =) http://www.flickr.com/photos/73767379@N05/6652569107/
Ben
Was just looking right back when this thread was first made, would be interesting to see everyone's bookshelves years later.

poppyshake
This is serious book porn isn't it? I've been going through all the pages but some of the photo's are unavailable now Love your super organised bookshelves lopeanha and love yours too Hyzenthlay .. but you appear to only have one Harry Potter ?!? .. where are all it's friends? In lieu of the new shelves being built .. which will take forever and a day (given that I've been without a bath in my bathroom for a month now and no sign of a change) .. I took all the ornaments, and things that take up space but don't matter, out of my display cabinet .. and put books in instead .. genius idea, don't know why I didn't think of it before. I have put one or two things that aren't books in just to make it look like I'm normal (and forgive the photo frames with nobody in them .. I've only just got them and have been too lazy to run out pics.) I bought the word 'BOOK' with some Christmas money from 'Not on the High Street'. They are map letters and you can choose any location you want (I chose the Isle of Wight cos it's our favourite place ) The idea was to get another word (probably with birthday money) and it was going to be 'WORM' (and I was going to choose Cirencester & Lechlade for my map references .. and the Cotswolds in general) but now that 'BOOK' has arrived, it's larger than I was expecting and I've worked out (yeah .. I'm not so daft as I look!) that 'WORM' will be too wide and that you won't see all of it when the doors are closed .. you'll only see something that looks a bit like 'VORN' .. which is no good at all because 'BOOKVORN' doesn't mean anything (in English anyway, perhaps it means something somewhere else ... oh I've looked it up .. Vorn is someone from 'Star Wars' .. oh my!) So I'm trying to think of another four letter word that will go (careful .. I'll do the jokes ) .. it could be 'LOVE' of course .. but I can't think of anything else. It might still be 'WORM' .. I might liberate them from the cabinet and put them on an open shelf .. decisions decisions!! I bought the reindeer head bookends in the Jan sales and I got them half price because the kind lady said they came under Christmas decorations though I'm not sure they did. They are holding up my fantasy books which I thought was sort of apt. The little man at the top is Mr Pickwick .. Alan bought him at a collectors fair many years ago. Hyzenthlay
Haha poppy I have all the Harry Potters, in English and Norwegian, and one book I have even four copies of (while several of the others I have two English copies). Simply because sometimes the Harry Potter urge strikes when you are far removed from your books. Your bookshelves are gorgeous, btw. Love the reindeer! Very Scandinavian of you. Chiara
Here are my bookshelves. Since my room is very small, most of my old children's books are in my sister's room. We used to share a very big room, but when I got my own I just left those books there What do you think about my pile of floating books? I used a secret spell on them to keep them floating... I haven't really organized my books. I only have my school books and dictionaries on one side of my bookshelf and the rest is just randomly placed. Because I have too many books for my shelves, I had to put a few books on another shelf and I actually have some books lying behind the other books on my shelves. Sorry for the big pictures. Something went wrong with uploading and now I can't seem to make them smaller Edited January 9, 2012 by Chiara
Timmo
Just took some quick snaps, sorry they aren't very good pictures. These are just mine my girlfriend has occupied the rest with her books.
Kylie
Ooh, lovely shelves, everyone! Lopeanha, I love your Billys. You have the same number of shelves as me (you buy two extra shelves for each bookcase, right?), except that you have the height extension as well. I wish I could get the height extensions for my bookcases, but we have those annoying curving cornices where the ceiling meets the wall, so the height extension won't fit against the wall. I wonder how easy they are to remove... Chiara, I love your floating shelf. I've been toying the idea of putting one up myself, but I haven't worked out where to put it. Are those zig-zaggy shelves from IKEA?
lopeanha
You're right Kylie I love the height extension as it's perfect for the larger size cookery books, which wouldn't fit otherwise. The rows with the boxes in it only hold "normal size" paperbacks but I likr my authors to stay together, that's why I only have books in the higher rows. Even if I have the same number of shelves as you, I'm not even near your amount of books. My bf got the other half of the living room walls and he got 1.5 more Billys and his are full of books just like yours

pontalba
After last year's bookshelf frenzy of purchasing, we hoped to organize our shelves. Now that it is his/mine/ours it's a real hodgepodge. I have my sincere doubts they will ever be in a real order. But here is some of it.
