itsmeagain Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Gai Jin by James Clavell. Used it to distract myself from the length, and the more annoying bits, of Robert Galbraith, The Running Grave. Wish I had a quid for every page of these two.... Quote
chickenfeed Posted July 22 Posted July 22 The Illegals by Shaun Walker If only I have the flair for writing I can write my Filipino company bosses' (WFTU) never ending tales of their visits to the Soviet Union and Cuba. Quote
poppy Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Just finished Death In the Dark by Moray Dalton and about to begin The Stretton Darknesse Mystery by the same author. This is the fourth book I've read of hers and really enjoying them. She wrote Golden Age Mysteries between 1924 and 1951. Quote

I really love the Moray Dalton ones. I'm mostly reading vintage books at the moment. Not everyone's cup of tea, but they're pretty short, so wouldn't hurt to try 😊 How are you getting on with your eyes? Anything further with the ingrown eyelashes? 😘 Quote

My reading has almost stopped. You have my sympathy and understanding. I had to have surgery to correct my vision and it was being unable to read that distressed me the most. Back then all you could get were audio books on CD from the book shop, which cost a fortune and were (as far as I could see!) always abridged, which I can’t abide. I hope that all goes well for you and that you can read again very soon 1 Quote
Madeleine Posted August 7 Posted August 7 That sounds so painful, I hope the surgery goes well. 1 Quote

Wishing you all the best. Eye operations seem to have the most amazing rejuvenating effects, must be something to do with regaining vision you haven't had for ages, even years though when I asked my mother about having her cataracts removed she said it was awful! 'I haven't been able to see myself properly in the mirror for five years and now I can. I've got so old!" She was 89. 2 Quote

One of the benefits of not seeing so well as you get older 😅 Edited August 12 by poppy 1 Quote
