I wish I could buy Christmas Cards like that to send. We took down our Christmas Tree today. It took 2 and a half hours. We had to take each ornament and wrap it in tissue paper and take the icicles down separate. Then I took the artificial tree down (3 parts) and haul it upstairs and put in a cubbyhole off one of the bedrooms. Completely tired me out. 1 Quote

I've gone for a small live fir tree in a container now, which I can bring inside on a sack barrow. Our local community decorate their letterboxes so I use up some of the extra decorations for that. Took down the tree decorations yesterday, which is very organised for me 😂 2 Quote

Madeleine Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Christmas trees have been around for a while, I've seen them in some places in October. Quote
Madeleine Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Have got most of the presents now, wrote the cards that needed posting today, and posted them, have lots of others but I'll see most of the recipients in person, so that's round 1 done! Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 All my presents are bought - 2 of them! One Christmas card sent through the post, to the one person who does keep in touch throughout the year (and yes, I'm as guilty of not keeping in touch as everybody else. I'm just not prepared to pay 85p for a second class stamp and buy/make Christmas cards for it anymore). Not putting up decorations this year, and my brother is in charge of food. We are not hosting so it'll be quiet, which is what we all prefer. Quote

Madeleine Posted October 1 Posted October 1 My farm shop had mince pies from the beginning of August, even earlier than the supermarkets. Quote
muggle not Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I plan on listening to this Christmas song as much as I Can. Frank Sinatra has a #1 hit today, his first #1 since 1967. it is a Christmas song with Frank Sinatra and Pentatonix singing together. i love it and it brings back the good old days. 😄 3 Quote

muggle not Posted Saturday at 03:26 PM Posted Saturday at 03:26 PM I also cannot decide on an absolute favorite but the song that I really, really, like is" Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" as sung by Judy Garland. Absolutely a nice song. 1 Quote
Madeleine Posted Saturday at 04:58 PM Posted Saturday at 04:58 PM If it's "pop" songs then it would be "I Believe in Father Christmas" by Greg Lake, of the more traditional/classical songs I would choose "O Holy Night", we've been singing it at my choir and it always brings me out in goosebumps! 2 Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted Saturday at 05:17 PM Posted Saturday at 05:17 PM I like Prokofiev’s Troika, which Greg Lake’s tune is based on and not played anywhere nearly enough this time of year, in my opinion. I also like Merry Merry Christmas by Keb Mo (Kevin Moore) And Elvis Presley’s Merry Christmas Baby. Of the Carols, I prefer Silent Night sung by a boy soprano. And it would not be Christmas without King’s College Choir (with much in the way of boy sopranos). 2 Quote

Nothing matches their clear soaring voices. 1 Quote

We have a lovely boy in our choir, the son of one of the members, who guest sings occasionally and he sang O Holy Night this year - we were his backing singers - and also did Walking in the Air. He has a beautiful voice but he's 12 now and we can hear his voice is breaking, thankfully it lasted until our Xmas concert this week! Hopefully his new voice will be just as good. 2 Quote
