poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 cue Roger telling us how brilliantly he played (I'm not sore ... much!) Quote
chesilbeach Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Yay! Happy to see Federer win - I find him more entertaining to watch than Djokovic. COME ON ANDY!!!!!! Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 *Shrugs* He played well otherwise he wouldn't have beaten the world number one in four sets. Quote
poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Well played Roger! I also don't really think Murray or Tsonga will beat Federer. Just my opinion though. It looks unlikely but you never know .. Roger will be the one expected to win and they will have nothing to lose (except the final ) .. it might just be possible .. on a good day .. with the wind in the right direction Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Perhaps! Also, he's being nothing but nice in his interview. Quote
poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 *Shrugs* He played well otherwise he wouldn't have beaten the world number one in four sets. He did .. for sure. I don't deny it. Quote
poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Perhaps! Also, he's being nothing but nice in his interview. I wouldn't know .. I've seen too many of them this year to watch another. I guess he is deserving of another stripe on his blazer All I want to say is .. COME ON ANDY/JO-WILFRIED!! ... I really see this as a win/win which is nice and unusual. Probably I won't when it starts but that's how I feel now. Really hoping for a tight and exciting match because that wasn't. Give the crowd some excitement. Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Murray takes the first set and looked fantastic doing it. Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Woo, and there's another reasonably comfortable set to lead 2-0. Murray looking great. Quote
lauraloves Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I'm now watching the match and im hoping that its just a blip or something . . . :/ Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 YESSSS. HAVE SOME OF THAT. Hope Federer's taking notes, we're coming for you. Quote
chesilbeach Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 That was a bit tense, wasn't it?! Had to turn the sound off and hide behind my book a couple of times. Quote
lauraloves Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 One of the best matches i have watched in a long time. So pleased for Andy Murray, cant wait for his match on Sunday now Quote
poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Very happy for Andy .. this was my ideal final so I'm pleased. However, I'm hoping that Roger will bring his B game .. or C game .. or preferably his Z game on Sunday A very tall order for Andy but anything can happen on the day. It's a great achievement for him anyway.. a Brit in the finals who would've thought it .. and one in the mens double's too .. well done to Marray as well as Murray Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 It's win-win for me - if Murray wins it'll be fantastic, if Federer wins I'll be happy to see him equal Sampras's record Quote
Inver Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I was watching the game on my own....so I was shouting, cheering at the telly etc. and I have to confess I cried when he got through I was so relieved for him. Tsonga is a great guy and you could see what respect they have for each other. I thought Andy did so well to hold it together at the end, you almost thought he was going to crumple into tears....wonder who is up ;there watching over him and guiding him through this. Come on Sunday.....bring it on Fed....our (Scottish) man is waiting for you. I so hope he can pull it off and the two guys in the men's doubles...what a result for them too. All in all a good day of tennis., Quote
chaliepud Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 As my Scottish cousin says "he's Scottish when he wins, British when he loses" lol! Quote
poppyshake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 It has a certain ring of fate to it .. something about his age and birthday being similar to Fred Perry's when he first won but then also the fact that it was jubilee year when Virginia won it. I do hope someone up there likes him Poor Tim .. he does come in for some stick when things like this happen .. he'll always have the hill though. Quote
Ben Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Not when Murray fans call it Murray Mount and Federer fans Roger's Ridge. Quote
Inver Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 He's British too you know. ...really! Oh I do love a bit of friendly banter Quote
