frankie Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 BCF peer pressure is the best kind.... It's the only kind I condone, 100% Quote

frankie Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Oh you guys... I started reading Titus Groan. I've only read the first chapter so far. But why on earth do I feel like I've heard/read this story before. I know I haven't. I've never read anything by Mervyn Peake. But it just seems soooooo familiar. Rottcodd, the carvings, the hall... That one day of the year... How on earth can it sound so familiar. I have not read this book before! It's sooooo spooky! And incredibly fascinating. So creepy it's good! Quote
Devi Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Ok the next book I buy off BD will be replay! Quote

I think it's just telling you that it's glad you are reading it .. it's making you at home .. it wants you to feel comfy It gets more creepy and more fascinating .. so you're in for a real treat .. just wallow in it .. it's delicious Quote
frankie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Ok the next book I buy off BD will be replay! One down, Timstar to go I had that feeling too but then I had seen (some of) the adaptation on tv to account for it. I think it's just telling you that it's glad you are reading it .. it's making you at home .. it wants you to feel comfy It gets more creepy and more fascinating .. so you're in for a real treat .. just wallow in it .. it's delicious I've not seen the TV adaptation, as far as I know. It's freaking me out, but at the same time it's making it such a magical read... Although the 'flashbacks' and familiarities ended with the first chapter. I like your theory, though. Maybe it is the book just making me feel comfy, wanting me to keep going... The book wants me! I didn't read much of it yesterday, I was busy watching things online But what I read, I liked. I have a feeling this book has a fair chance to become my favorite of the year. I know that's saying much, but I'm already so drawn in after only 25 pages or so. It's so odd! Already it's made me think of The Shadow of the Wind and The Lions of Al-Rassan... Which is a great sign! Quote
frankie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 I have new books! As a book swap from chaliepud, I got - Human Traces by Sebastian Faulks (which I hear is superb! ) - Utterly Lovable Dogs (which is an utterly lovable book with pics of utterly lovable dogs, and quotes on our canine friends ) Thanks chalie! Where was I... I went on google to search for 'utterly lovable dogs' and then had all these amazing doggy pictures to look at and forgot all about myself... Oh yes... For the sci-fi/fantasy reading challenge, I had ordered these and now received: - Storm Front by Jim Butcher (the first book in the Dresden Files -series) - Bitter Seeds by Ian Tregillis (this is a series, too, which I didn't know about until only just recently) TBR stands at 338 at the moment... No, wait, can that be right? No, I think it's 438 Yes, 438 for sure! Quote
chaliepud Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 You're very welcome frankie, I hope you enjoy Human Traces as much as I did, I think you might with your interest in psychology, but if you only enjoy it half as much as I did you will think it very good indeed! Quote
