bree Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 So good to hear you are enjoying it! Yes, it's lovely isn't it? And what do you know, I might just be falling in love with the 'Jackal'
Inver Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Few pages of my current book read this morning lounging in bed. Posted a book to Chrissy that I have running as a bookring on here at the moment.
karen.d Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) I have made some progress with 'The Passage' by Justin Cronin this afternoon. So far I'm a little disappointed, it's a very slow read. Edited May 5, 2012 by karen.d
frankie Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Yes, it's lovely isn't it? And what do you know, I might just be falling in love with the 'Jackal' :D It is rather unavoidable, he's such a great character. I'm definitely keeping an eye on your progress with the novel
bobblybear Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Getting into The Anniversary Man by RJ Ellory. It's looking to be a cracking crime novel!
Kidsmum Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Just 100 pages left to go in I Capture the Castle so should finish it this weekend
pipread Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I've just finished Bitter Water ~ Gordon Ferris, a good fast paced read, next book on the menu is A Clash of Kings, the second book in George R.R. Martin's A song of Ice and Fire series. I really enjoyed the first in the series so hoping this one doesn't disappoint!
medsdemon Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Finished Before I Go To Sleep on Friday. Yesterday visited the library for the first time in ages and borrowed Possession by AS Byatt and Winter in Madrid By CJ Sansom. BUT was out in town in the afternoon and HAd to go for a browse in Waterstones (obviously), ending up buying The Radleys by Matt Haig. I shouldn't have as I have it on order from the library but .....Started it last night and liking the style so far.
frankie Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I have one more short story left in Daphne du Maurier's The Birds and Other Stories.
Kylie Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I have started reading Rescuing Patty Hearst by Virginia Holman.
emmt1986 Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I just finished Dan Brown's Digital Fortress and have started reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray - So far I am enjoying what I am reading =)
dawnbirduk Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Yesterday I started reading Garden of Darkness by Anne Frasier although it was classified as a thriller, I found it just too gruesome, I didn't relate to the characters or the dark setting, so I ended up giving up, this morning I started reading City of Shadows by Ariana Franklin, so far not outstanding but ok, so will see how it goes.
pontalba Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Due to a discussion of The Talented Mr. Ripley on another forum, I've picked up A Life of Patricia Highsmith by Andrew Wilson. Fantabulous!! I'd read all 5 Ripley books a couple of years ago and enjoyed them quite a lot. Highsmith is (was) a fascinating person
Parenthesis Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 My reading opportunities over the last five days have been dismal. I have only managed to make my way through the first three chapters of Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods. A brilliant read thus far. Hilariously irreverent whilst at the same time managing to impart facts about the Appalachian Trail and surrounding area without being wearisome.
Kidsmum Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I finished I Capture The Castle last night it was hard to choose something to follow such a good book but picked one I've had on my shelves for awhile The Loved and Envied by Enid Bagnold not read anything by her before but she's probably most well known for writing the children's story National Velvet.
Charm Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Still no reading done lately, although it's wet and rainy today and definitely a day to sit and read, so might actually do some at some point! Lol
Inver Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I finished I Capture The Castle last night it was hard to choose something to follow such a good book I think this is going to have to be my next read I think.
Timstar Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I finished the 2nd Mistborn book, The Well of Ascension, thought it was amazing! Also started and finished Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, also very good. Now started Christine by King
bobblybear Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I just finished The Anniversary Man. Really great read. I've got so many good books on my Kindle that I'm struggling with what to read next. They all sound so great but I think I'll start with The End Specialist by Drew Magary. It's set in the future where they have discovered the cure for aging, only to have other negative consequences.
Andie P Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Just started The People Next Door, a little hard to get into as I find his writing style quite disjointed (in this particular novel) but I am actually starting to get into it....lots of suspense. Let's hope its a good one to restore my faith in Christopher Ransom. Andie P x
lauraloves Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I've had quite a busy bookish bank holiday weekend I finished A Flicker of Light by Roberta Kagan and started Ellie Fosters English Coursework by Tina Orr Monro. I finished I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith and started Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan. I downloaded one kindle freebie, Humanoid Central by Tom Lichtenburg. I won one ebook in a giveway, Shades of Grey by Michael Cargill
