  1. Finished Before I Go To Sleep on Friday. Yesterday visited the library for the first time in ages and borrowed Possession by AS Byatt and Winter in Madrid By CJ Sansom. BUT was out in town in the afternoon and HAd to go for a browse in Waterstones (obviously), ending up buying The Radleys by Matt Haig. I shouldn't have as I have it on order from the library but .....Started it last night and liking the style so far.
  2. Just finished watching a swedish film called " Together". I would definitely recommend, really enjoyed it.
  3. Know what you mean. Planning my watching tonight to be The Breaking Dawn Twilight movie...yes I know but I'm quite looking forward to it.
  4. Just chilling out waiting for my dinner to cook listening to Duke Special ...I just bought tickets to see him this month..can't wait
  5. Ooh thanks for all the lovely welcomes . No rain here ....yet.. but it's freeezing. look forward to chatting lots Poppyshake. She has Othello, Anthony and Cleopatra, Persuasion & Pride and prejudice so far. I managed to get them all in a lovely Charity bookshop I found in Edinburgh for the princely sum of £7 plus some york notes and she's started reading Pride & Prejudice already. She likes her own copies so she can write notes in them and mark passages out ( can't believe hardly any of her fellow English students don't get there own copies). I will probably read Persuasion first...absolutely loved the film version with Ciaran Hinds so I know I will love the book. ( plus it's quite short )
  6. Bought new books today. SJ Watson Before I Go To Sleep and Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cities from Waterstones then picked up A Short History Of Tractors In The Ukraine Marina Lewycha and Nicholas Evans The Brave in a charity shop. Finished reading Kate Atkinson " When Will There Be Good News" last night. I think I will definitely be looking out for her other Jackson Brodie novels, I loved her style of writing.. and her sense of humour. Really easy to read. Started readin SJ Watson Before I Go To Sleep before I went to sleep but didn't get very far as sleep beckoned rather quicker than I anticipated...damn red wine.
  7. We're with Lovefilm-the package with unlimited DVDs and streaming for £9.99. Definitely worth the money- we get all the new one s on DVD and use the streaming to watch older films and niche films. It's a bonus for the family to be able to watch different movies at the same time sometimes too. No problems with them not playing on lagging so far.
  8. I have to agree...only Ruth and Jaz really stood out tonight everyone else was a bit meh. I really want Ruth to win..Tom did well choosing her
  9. Blushes slightly and admits I quite liked this in a late night in bed easy watching kind of way. Though why Tom Hanks had a chain hanging from his trousers when he was given his new updated image I don't know...it had some cringy moments. Watched The Elephant Man last night. I can't believe I've never seen it before. Awfully sad. I have a list I'm working through of films on my package I've never watched that I'm working away at.
  10. Placebo "I Know". Saw them on Wednesday night and thought they were awesome in a small venue but would have liked to hear more old stuff.
  11. Hello there *waves* to anyone out there on this sunny sunday morning. Just thought I'd better introduce myself before I start posting elsewhere. I',m Sarah, I'm from Scotland and I've always loved reading. I'm an on and off reader- read loads one month then nothing the next, but I love to buy books anytime. Can't get my head round a Kindle yet though, like the feel of turning pages and reading something that's been enjoyed by countless others. I don't have a favourite "type" of book, just whatever takes my fancy- currently going to attempt a few Classics as DD is doing Advanced Higher English and I'm going to read along with her with her book list... Other interests are walking, holidaying, cooking and gigs...and reading about them!! Hope to chat to lots of likeminded people on here soon
