Just posting my latest read books, while the Internet holds ( it`s not as wobbly as before, but still goes offline now and again... ). I`ll put in mini-reviews later. Mmmm, I tend to have stomach trouble from antibiotics, or headaches, so I imagine it`s the same for animals. She has been snuggling up closely at night, and purring to herself ( there`s an idea that the frequency of a cat`s purr is healing ); paws crossed that tomorrow, the cone can come off and she can go outside to play again.
-
I haven`t read it ( yet ), but here`s an excerpt from the new Murakami - Slate.
-
That read-a-thon seems to come round faster every month. I shall be a-kimpling - looking through some of the excerpts from books I`m thinking of buying - not sure what I`ll pick up as my bedtime reads ( `cos I just read the Kindle during the day ) - will have a look though the goodies that make up my TBR.
-
Oof, that`s scary. Hope you`re continuing to improve.
-
Aw, will do. Looks like I spoke too soon though ; she`s been hiding away on the windowsill, and under the bed ( surprised she could get the cone under there ) ; I think it`s the antibiotics. She`s just come downstairs now and is having some food ( without the antibiotic this time ), so that`s promising. I`ve just given her a Gaia Cuddle.
-
Ooh, sounds good - shall look up the other books from him too.
-
Thanks, and indeed. I`ve just re-read the tales of woe of doggies-with-cones above ; I`m so glad that she isn`t hiding somewhere with it, too sad to come out.
-
Thanks for the kind wishes, everyone. Hopefully, the cone will come off on Friday, fingers crossed. She has to stay in till then ( luckily it isn`t 28C anymore, `cos that would`ve been really bad in the house ). She`s eating well, if awkwardly, but keeps shaking her head and trying to scratch and wash herself. She`s running about though, and isn`t knocking into too many things now.

Just a quick post - Xiao-Xiao had her op today for that abscess - 30 min op under general anaesthetic - the vet found a tiny* splinter in the abscess, hopefully that`s what the problem was, though he said it`s difficult to tell if it`s all sluiced out now, `cos the bits can be so small. She`s back home now with a `buster collar`, ie, a cone of shame. The poor girl`s completely spaced out, very unsteady on her feet ; she`s currently dozing near her food dish ( she`s having tiny amounts of food, ` cos she hasn`t eaten for 24 hours. ) She`s got antibiotics for the next five days, and is back at the vet`s on Friday for a check-up. * 2-3 mm, they attached it to her records.

Lots of healing hugs, Julie.
-
All the very best for tomorrow, Julie ! Hope you`ll be back playing hopscotch in no time.
-
Internet`s really iffy. Just got Outsider in Amsterdam (Grijpstra & de Gier Mysteries) - Janwillem Van De Wetering today, am already a few pages in.
-
I really liked the storyline, and the special-effects ; I wasn`t too sure about some of the acting.
-
Thanks - Only three this time, I`m quite proud.
-
Hee, I`m going for the third dress, but they`re all pretty.
-
Thanks for putting my mind at rest. Great book haul ! I`m interested in those Rick Riordan books - I saw the first film.

3 more books... Books read : 104 TBR 782 New Books Bought : 142 Total Cost : £276.17 Tatiana - Martin Cruz Smith, the latest in the Arkady Renko series which started with Gorky Park. Thanks - she`s been racing up and down the stairs today and pouncing on the hall rug, so I assume she`s not feeling too poorly. It just looks so painful. Poor Pixie. Did she need a vet`s visit then ? Xiao-Xiao`s very clever - sometimes she puts her head on one side and I swear you can see her trying to puzzle things out.
-
I hope it`s still a worthwhile read.
-
Poor Pamuk. Glad she`s got a good home now.
-
Or - in my case - that`s how I ended up with double copies of some books. I have some of my TBR in a spare room, and it`s always a nice surprise to come across them and think ` Oh, I have that still to read ! `, so I can understand having a secret box of books. Thanks, I shall have a look at those. Erm, nothing nasty happened to the cat, did it ?
-
Ooh, glad it`s all systems go. It`s a week tomorrow, isn`t it ?
-
Kate, Gaia, Julie - many thanks for your get well wishes for the little one ! She`s still eating well and running about, rolling on her back, climbing curtains ; the lump looks awful, but the vet expects it to burst on its own ( I`m guessing the antibiotics are helping her to feel better, he did say the dose should last for two weeks ) . Poor little girl, we can`t explain that the vet was helping her.

I don`t know if goats are like sheep, who always seem to be limping about ? They have such skinny legs and big bodies and bounce around. Boo ! Is that bakery in the same area and willl have the same problem then ?
