  1. I must get around to reading this, everyone's reviews have been fantastic!
  2. Have a great time on Saturday Michelle, no one could say you've not put any research into it! (More books for my wish list! I'd not realised Kimberley Derting had started another series of books, so The Pledge is on there too!)
  3. Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen (really need to watch Dirty Dancing again soon!)
  4. Thumbs up from us too, it was good fun and had loads of action sequences, I was actually disappointed when it ended!
  5. Time Of My Life - Patrick Wolf
  6. I have The Pact on my TBR shelf, not sure when I'll get around to reading it though, it has a lot of competition to be next in line! The only other Piccoult book I have read was My Sister's Keeper and I was surprised at how good it was... I'd only read it as it was a Book Club read.
  7. Took my boys to see The Avengers in 3D yesterday, we really enjoyed it, lots of action, very funny in places (loving the Iron Man humour and a great line from The Hulk!) and felt the characters all came together very well. Superhero movies are normally not my thing but I'm glad I was coerced into seeing this one... :-))
  8. So sorry to hear about your cat Alexistar, I'm planning on getting my dogs cremated when the time comes, and I know plenty of people who have sone the same.. So lovely to hear your news MC, lurchers are lovely and I have a particular soft spot for brindle dogs (see my avatar!) I hope she is just what your husband needs.
  9. Another one for the wish list, great review!!
  10. Happy here - Chelsea beat Liverpool in the FA Cup, roll on Champion's League final!!! My home town team Stevenage beat Bury 3:0 to get into the League One playoffs!!! This could be the third year running they go up a division, MAD!!!
  11. I've put Girl Meets Boy on my wish list too as I've heard Claire rave about it so often, it's better be good!!
  12. All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople
  13. Our Junior (ages 7-11) school isn't too bad for homework, my 11 year old daughter gets set 3 pieces a week as a rule, each with at least 2 days to complete it and they are told that they must not spend more than an hour doing it (It's normally more like half an hour) and then a parent can sign it and back in the school bag it goes. Generally it's one for English, one for Maths and one for Science or project work, not too bad I think. My 7 year old is just finishing infant school and probably gets half to one hour a week and the school no longer does traditional spellings as they have now implemented a new daily Phonics programme which helps the children with their spelling far better than the traditional look, cover and write method of the past, the children's reading levels have shot up since starting it. I won't comment about my elder son's secondary school homework, I'll just say there is definitely no pattern to it!!!!
  14. This has been on my wish list for a while, I think I'll wait for the paperback to be released in September as it's still quite expensive as a hardback. Or I could even get it out of the library........ So many books so little time!!
  15. Wow, he's doing so well BB, cute and clever, what a great package! I too loved the barking video, I've tried for 13 years to teach Dylan to bark on command but he never quite 'got it', preferring to only howl, and never on command!! Are you taking Reuben to training classes and do you plan on working him at all? He's certainly got the talent!
  16. Going Loco Down in Acapulco - Four Tops
  17. Yay! I'll look later when I'm on my laptop so I can get full size puppy joy!! :-)
  18. Only a 100 pages left of Insurgent, it was a bit slow at first but it's very exciting now! EDIT : Have now finished it, at the expense of the housework, but who cares about that! It was very good, maybe not a 5/5 like Divergent but definitely at least a 4.5/5. Looking forward the final book in the trilogy next Spring which apparently is being referred to as "Detergent' by Veronica Roth (the author) Just received the latest Sookie Stackhouse book, Deadlocked, in the post today so I may start on that later, the later books in the series haven't been as good in my opinion, but I just can't stop myself reading them!!
  19. I look forward to seeing them BB, nothing better than puppy pics, seems to have been a puppy boom round these parts lately, can't be any fun toilet training in this weather!
  20. Bad Teacher, terrible yet very funny, wouldn't let my kids near it though, very rude!!!!
  21. I've just added this to my Amazon wish list as it was also recommended by a friend yesterday and I trust you both! I may also risk adding Gone with the Wind too as you have rated highly along with others on BCF... How's that puppy coming along? Must be time for some more pics!
  22. Just seen this, I still have Delirium on my TBR and want to read it but for some reason I haven't yet, I'll mentally move it up a bit further! Have you read Divergence by Veronica Roth, sounds like it's in a similar vein and I loved it, currently half way through the second in the series, Insurgence, at tho moment, and whilst it started a bit slow it' certainly picking up the pace now! :readingtwo:
  23. We are guilty of exactly that, partly to compensate for them not being able to play out as much as we did (although they will do that more in the summer) but also to allow them to try out new things and to help towards their physical and social development. My 3 children do Scouts, Guides and Beavers which is a great social and practical activity. My daughter plays the piano and badminton and climbs a few times a month, the boys both play football and badminton which keeps them very fit, and around that we squeeze homework, friends to play and the occasional family activity. My husband works away for weeks at a time and it can get very hectic but I constantly hope I am helping create well balanced young people people with good social skills and experiences. I guess I won't know if it's worked for a few years yet! Sorry Poppy, I seem to have got carried away on your thread!
