  1. I think I may have said that Human Traces is the best book I have ever read , very closely followed by Birdsong, I'm so jealous that you still have these treasures ahead of you, I can't wait to hear what you think of Human Traces! I agree with frankie, not about coffee, but that Emotional Geology was a great read, have a great time getting that list down to zero, I'm very mucg looking forward to finding out what will be your first book purchase...
  2. Not such a good day for that wallpaper! ;)
  3. Great review Ben, I must get this soon, I'll see if someone would like to buy it for my birthday!!
  4. Oi! That's me! (I am allergic to caffeine though... But even before I discovered that I just couldn't abide the smell!? I just have to make do with other essential pleasures.........)
  5. I think I'm definitely going to have to pick this one up soon!
  6. Is the synopsis from The Good Father Ben? I have it on my wish list... :-)
  7. This could be a storyline, all the BCF mojo's being picked off one by one.... :o Hope you all get them back asap! Maybe there will be a ransom? Maybe we all need to get up to date with book reviews......
  8. It's odd, because a few weeks ago I was at the Basingstoke store and they had some Buy One get One Half Price offers, yet when I went to my home branch in Camberley there were no offers at all.... I'm going to Basingstoke again this week so I'll take another look.
  9. Definitely a must read for everyone, I think it falls into the YA genre but could equally be an adult read, think on the same lines as The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas or To Kill A Mockingbird for difficulty level.
  10. Possibly the thousands of adverts on and around the London Tube, that's why my friend bought it, I'll be reading it after her, I'm a bit nervous as to how raunchy it can be! I coped with the Sookie Stackhouse books ok, I wonder how many degrees more raunchy these are?!
  11. Oh bless her! Isn't it funny how she can see the cat on the screen, my friend's Cavalier can do that (and will bark at anything animal like on the TV, even the cuddly toy type polar bear in the Bird's Eye advert (do you get that over there? If not google it!) She can be very annoying!) My dogs however cannot see anything, in fact we Skype Steve regularly and they cannot even hear his voice, or his whistle, which is very loud and distinctive, and they know so well, very strange... Obi had a lovely long walk today, we left the oldies at home as they are just not coping with long walks anymore but it meant we could do a couple of hills, which are not really very big at all but left us both feeling a little as we are just not used to it any more.
  12. I have acquired a few new books this week, via various sources - The Wolf (The ecology and behaviour of an endangered species) - L. Davis Mech The Mill on the Floss - George Eliot (for my book club) Message in a Bottle - Nicholas Sparks (from a friend) How I live Now - Meg Rosoff A Street Cat named Bob - James Bowen (bought because a friend and I met Bob in London a few weeks ago!) Brass Ring - Diane Chamberlain The Bolter - Frances Osborne - the story of Idina Sackville, the woman who scandalised 1920's society.
