That's great to hear, Kylie! I think I need to get that first soundtrack now that I know Little Boxes is on there . I was looking on YouTube or somewhere similar for that song, and was surprised to hear it was from the 60's as well. It seems like kind of a hippy-esque song, you know? Man, Roland, so not only are you one of 'those people,' but you're also a Blue Jays fan??!! But why?? We're playing a series here at home with them at the end of this month and all I can say is watch out! I hope we still have our 4 game lead at that point and can again claim an AL Central Division champion title! I'm listening to Roy and his wife fighting about why he likes to sculpt mash potatoes into the shape of Devil's Tower in Close Encounters right now, LOL.

Mmm thanks for the cookies Mac, they'll go great with my coffee this morn! Pickle and Charm, thanks for the forewarning on the Reichs books. My friend's mom was telling me how in the book, Brennan is mostly based in Montreal and I think in the first book she was also in South Carolina (correct me if I'm wrong), and not in DC like the TV show. They are also pretty intense she said, and Booth is a Montreal policeman, which is kind of far off a former Army Ranger turned FBI man! I think I'll try the first book though - you never know, right?!

It is annoying, I agree. Especially over the menus when it's on some constant hellish loop and you have to hear it over and over again. Having it during the extras makes no sense! If someone wants to take the time to watch the extras, they obviously are interested in hearing what actors/crew have to say, NOT listen to annoying tuneage! Very maddening, for sure.

Chesil, I remember being disappointed in Last Chance Harvey as well. I love Emma Thompson and could really go either way with Hoffman. I did however really enjoy their work in Stranger Than Fiction, which is a movie love. Frankie, that movie wasn't memorable at all, huh? Well except for Cusack, I thought it was very blah. I thought about seeing that Cera film, Noll. I think he filmed it with his real-life girlfriend, and wasn't it a documentary? I've got Close Encounters of the Third Kind on this morning in the background .

I'm looking foward to the Armstong books too! She never disappoints . I think I might read Undead & Unwed after the Alan Bradley book, Charm. I feel myself getting pulled in the quirky direction after every couple books or so! I was with my friend and her mom today (she's the one who got me hooked on The Lost Book of Salem and also the Bone Garden amoung others) and we were talking about the Kathy Reichs books that one of my fave shows Bones is based on. She has all of her books and encouraged me to borrow her first one, which happens to be her fave. Have any of you guys read the Reichs books? I'm going up to their place next month so I'm going to snag it while I'm there. She's also lending me the Steig Larsson books, so I'm looking forward to finally reading them as well!

Yep, Cornell holds the market on brilliancy, that's for sure! Both bands you mentioned, plus the little one-offs from Temple of the Dog and M.A.C.C. Excellent stuff Spoonman has just started...

OMG OMG OMG Charm!! That would be so cool if she decided to visit!! You rock for asking her , so thank you! LadyMacbeth, it's a wonderful book - I hope you get to read it!

Oh great, so you know I'm bound to love it too since you have like the worst. taste. ever.

I never thought about getting the Weeds soundtrack, Kylie, but I love that show! Are the tunes pretty good? I even love that 'Little Boxes' song over the credits in the beginning . Roland, Roland, Roland . You'd probably be happy to hear we beat the Rangers last night, but for different reasons than me, of course, ha! I woke up today in a serious Soundgarden mood in anticipation for their LP being released this month, so am cranking one of my faves, 'Slaves and Bulldozers.' Chris Cornell, will you marry me??

LOL It's like I'm driving through a giant pile of books, not sure if I can navigate through it without dying, and then laughing it all off! I love it! I'm looking forward to these reads . Kylie, those two books you mentioned are like the hugest books known to man! I'm sort of scared to start them, actually. Come to think of it, that emoticon of Mac's seems pretty fitting now! Ha!

Okay, so here's an updated list of what's currently on my TBR shelf. Baseball - we're tied up and I realized that I still loathe the Texas Rangers .

What are you planning to watch on TV today/tonight
Peacefield replied to Johnny Carson Whit's topic in Music / TV / Films
Love Monk, Susie! Right now I'm watching Wednesday night's Ghost Hunters. Creepy! -
I would if I could, Chrissy, but I'm afraid I've ate/drank it all! I have a hard time sharing sometimes...

Coffee and a banana muffin from the cafe downstairs...

I don't eat grapes because I have a weird stomach and can't digest the skins. Also I'm too lazy to peel them I possess 3 boxes of Western Horseman magazine ranging from years 1961-1969, thanks to grandma. She's probably wishing she had them with her right now in heaven since she's no doubt spending the days riding her horse, Nugget . My cat likes to put toys in my shoes will only drink her water from a bowl on the counter. She would rather die of thirst than drink from it down on the floor by her food. My first car was an orange 1979 Fiat Strada (aka Ritmo) and I bought it in 1987. It had alternator/battery issues, so if I tried to drive with the lights and wipers on at the same time (at night while it was raining) the battery would drain and I would be stranded. My second car was a 1980 Toyota Tercel (the Fiat didn't last long, go figure!) and you guessed it - it was orange!

Your Book Activity Today - Thread 12

Excellent Pears purchase, Pontalba!! I hope you like it . I stopped at the library on my way home last night for the first time in ages and picked up a book on CD, Insatiable by Meg Cabot. It's pretty funny so far, almost making fun of all the vampire-hype going on these last few years. I also read quite a bit of The Heretic's Daughter last night before bed and will most likely finish it this weekend. SUCH a great book! -
Drinking my Starbucks latte and polishing off a banana...

Awww, yay, you liked it!! So glad, Mac! Pears' art mystery series is very different from his other works of fiction, but in a good way! It's not complicated writing, but simple and lovely because of his excellent writing skills. I love the interaction between Flavia and Jonathan, and you are exactly right, it's so fun and witty. Believe me, the rest of the series is full of that stuff .

Baseball on the radio - we're playing the Detroit Tigers tonight and we're tied up at 1-1 in the 8th inning. Nail biting for sure!

Nope, it's not required by law here, Pickle. In my experience when you start with a company you generally get 2 weeks, then you get more once you've been there longer. IMO I think it's a good thing because it helps people want to stay at places and earn their time off, you know? I've been with my company for 10 years and get 4 weeks vacation plus 3 personal days, and I worked hard for it! After 15 I'll get 5 weeks, then 20 gets me 6. We also have the option to buy a weeks worth of vacation, which they take out incrimentally from your paycheck. If you don't use it though they pay you back for it but it gets taxed, so if you buy it you better use it!

Hope you have fun in Kerry this week, Noll! I have 'The Crimson Petal and the White' on my TBR shelf so I'm interested to hear what you think of it .

Hey guys! I thought I'd use this opportunity to list the books I've read so far in 2010. Tbh it's made me a little embarassed since I'm so clearly a slow reader compared to some of you fine folk! In fact, I'm not quite sure it's possible that I would ever be able to reach 50-10 reads in one years time! Anyway, here goes: 1. Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong 2. Close to Shore by Michael Capuzzo 3. The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova 4. The Blackstone Key by Rose Melikan 5. Bel-Ami by Guy De Maupassant 6. Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong 7. The House at Midnight by Lucie Whitehouse 8. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen 9. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris 10. Land of the Burnt Thigh by Edith Eudora Kohl 11. Eclipse (re-read) by Stephenie Meyer 12. The Queen of Babble in the Big City by Meg Cabot 13. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer 14. The World to Come by Dara Horn 15. The Last Witchfinder by James Morrow 16. Topics About Which I Know Nothing by Patric Ness 17. Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K Hamilton 18. In the Shadow of Gotham by Stefanie Pintoff 19. The Ruins by Scott Smith 20. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld 21. The Heretics Daughter by Kathleen Kent **Currently reading** I'm also compiling an updated list of what's on my TBR shelf and will post it shortly .

Just munching on some Earl's popcorn, yum. It's the combo pack of butter, cheese and caramel, but I deliberately chose one that has mostly butter and cheese .
